I knew something was wrong when I was able to load the software so easily. It scanned what I wanted with no problem but wouldn't print it. I had my IT guy do a remote fix which lasted for about a day or so. Now I can't print anything from the scanner or off the net and my printer is saying it's off-line. I can't say that it's all the scanner's fault as I'm not that computer literate to know if it was my error or the scanners. So I'll have to really withhold a review until my IT guy gets through with fixing it again, which necessitated me bringing him my computer, printer and the scanner, plus the software. So with that being said, I'll have to come back with a second review after it's fixed. We'll see.

Comments about Epson Perfection V33 Scanner:
I purchased this scanner for photos, some of which are 70 yrs old. It is simple to use, compact and the pictures came out great. It scans quickly and was very easy to set up. It also does not take up a lot of space. I definitely recommend this product. I bought it after reading other reviews and was not disappointed.

Comments about Epson Perfection V33 Scanner:
Epson makes good hardware, there's no doubt about that. And, their Perfection V33 Scanner is no exception. However, figuring out how to scan oversize / long documents takes a few trys before everything works smoothly -- which, in the end it does, so be patient and pay close attention to the diagrams/drawings included in the instructions. Also, the instructions are all digital -- no printed manual -- so be prepared to either print out what you want or switch windows frequently while you're getting used to using the scanner.
This scanner is used for documents as well as scanning fine art originals. The optical DPI on this scanner is excellent -- an absolute necessity for artwork -- and handles 8x10 or smaller works in one pass. The included Scan-n-Stitch handles the larger pieces very nicely -- again, with a little more time and effort -- with excellent results.
Scan times aren't too bad -- certainly not the fastest, but you won't have time to make a cup of coffee, either. For anything that fits the platen, a single-pass scan is quick and painless. The quality of basic document scans is excellent. And, if you want the highest quality, you can control every aspect of the scanner and do 'custom' scans. Configuring the scanner for common tasks such as automating the scan settings, save location, and post-scan applications is simple using the Epson Event Manager. And, it's a big time-saver especially when you're doing multiple scans all requiring the same settings in a batch.
The attached top that folds completely out of the way is interesting. At first, it seems like a poor design -- but, in actual use and in terms of practicality it serves to keep the top from getting dropped, misplaced, or otherwise separated from the scanner unit. The only minor drawback is that it requires a little more clear desk area in order to fold the top over flat and completely out of the way. So, you'll either like this feature or you won't. It's not a deal breaker, and you shouldn't pass this scanner over based on this one design feature.
Overall, for the price paid, this was a true bargain and one piece of equipment that I'm very happy to have sitting next to my computers.
B&H Photo Video makes online purchases a breeze and backs it up with their solid reputation for customer service and fast shipping, too.

Seems as thought I have time to boil an egg for each scan. We live close to 3,000 feet and previous scanners have been much more rapid. But quality/price makes this a good product

Scanner needs no warmup, nor requires pre-scan. Scan n' Stitch is a super product for scanning large documents. I scanned over 450 magazine ads from magazines like Life, and the "stitched" images were perfect! Haven't tried the character recognition software yet, but the package was a bargain at [$]

Comments about Epson Perfection V33 Scanner:
This is a great scanner. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE LOW PRICE!!! The software provided is useful for tabloid size and larger scans. This is the same model scanner connected to the Macs in the labs at the university I attended. I NEVER experienced a single problem with ANY of the 100 or more V33 scanners in the graphic design labs. What better way is there to torture test hardware than to let a bunch of students have at it? I have been very pleased with this purchase and the product arrived lightning fast and in perfect condition. Great vendor and a solid product! Thanks!

Comments about Epson Perfection V33 Scanner:
I have been using this to scan in old pictures in and I really like it. It scans very quickly to my computer. The software that came with it really makes the pictures look great. I did have a little trouble getting it to work on my computer because it kept saying I didn't have a drive. So I went to EPSON's website and downloaded a drive and haven't had any more problems.

This replaces my older and five times more expensive epson scanner which recently died, thought twice about buying another epson but glad I did as this new one is not only streamlined dimensionally but also out performs the earlier one.
Our furniture business lives on the ability to scan when communicating with customers and the size and price allow us to have these at each computer workstation.
Very happy to have found this piece of equipment.

Comments about Epson Perfection V33 Scanner:
I needed a scanner to scan a bunch of family photos, some of which were about 50 years old. This scanner is much better than the one that came with my all in one printer many years ago. It's fast, easy to use and does a good job correcting the color in old photos. I'm very happy with the quality and ease of use, especially given the low price.

Comments about Epson Perfection V33 Scanner:
I generally only need a scanner for basic reasons (sending copies of documents, saving receipts), and this Epson fits the bill perfectly, and for BHP's excellent price, I get many features which could prove useful in the future. Install was fast and easy, scans quickly without the warmup of my old HP. [...] I will do business with BHP in the future, thanks for the good experience!

Comments about Epson Perfection V33 Scanner:
I like Epson scanners; I have been using them for many years and am familiar with the software. However, I always tend to think that one has to go to higher end to get something good. As I result, in the past I have spent money on capabilities I did not need, such as slide and negative scanning. I don't do slides or negatives, only print and pictures. So I was quite delighted to realize that that is the only difference between the Epson V33 and the Epson V330. It's all in the cover. I bought only what I needed, the V33, and it is working like a charm. No more heavy cover I don't need.

The Perfection V33 Scanner by Epson was just what I needed to make my life functional after a Windows 7 upgrade. My old faithful paperport scanner was not upgradable and I read too many bad things about paperport upgrades. So I took a chance on this scanner. It does all I need in scanning, copying, etc... Simple USB connection and easy to use software. [...]

Comments about Epson Perfection V33 Scanner:
So far this scanner does an excellent job. I scanned about 300 pages of banks statements, to get rid of the papers, and it was only one click and a few of seconds for each page. I did not expect that excellence for the price and because I had an Epson 2480 that was slower and more expensive.I have not tried the photo scanning a lot, but so far is OK.
