I own three of these, and can't live without them. I use this one solely for backing up my photographs, but the included software that automatically backs up your entire harddrive is simple and fast to use. Do yourself a favor by buying one or two of these and saving yourself from a potential harddrive disaster.

This is the third Seagate external hard drive I purchased, and all of them work as expected right out of the box. I was looking for a drive that did not take me any more than 10 minutes to set up. (Hopefully less) and it worked. The backup software is also terrific and it offers you an option for an advanced version if you prefer for a small added cost. Most external hard drives are fairly good these days, but the Seagate goes the extra mile with pleasant looking and functioning docking stations and creative colors that are integrate with the rest of your desktop or laptop computers. Segate is also a major manufacture of internal hard drives that may come as part of your desktop and laptop, so they obviously know how to build a hard drive as opposed to others which simply build the case and use another company to provide them with the drive. Good job and I would recommend it to anyone.

I was redirected to this product after I had planned to buy another external hoard drive from reading the catalog. The product is easy to use, has great speed and travels easy and I travel quite a bit. The price was right also. It may be a bit warmer than my other smaller external drive

I use the product with a Mac laptop as my Time Machine backup drive. Although the instructions gave some warning about adjusting for a Mac connection if needed, no such adjustment was necessary. I plugged it in and it was immediately recognized, then went about its business with Time Machine. If it holds up in its responsibilities, I'll probably give it five stars. But, it's too early to tell. What isn't great about it is the USB-only packaging which required a second purchase of a Firewire 800 connector for faster operation with the laptop. That connector doesn't come in the color options, either, at least not from my vendor. The fact that the drive itself has capability for several connection options is, however, another plus.
