This is a great little device, does exactly as it says on the can! Compact, portable and saves lugging a heavy laptop around. That said, it is just a hard drive, so no review of your photos once on the hard drive until you can link to a computer. Works great with my imac and my PC.
Great in the field when you start to run low on memory cards.
Must be careful inserting compact flash, suspect you could easily bend the pins if you're not.

I bought this based on a few reviews. It is a great idea for my line of work, which includes video documentary in places where there is no electricity, and where there is a need for secure storage apart from the camera itself.
However, the device quickly proved to be unable to carry a charge, so I could only load my video onto it if I had it plugged in. And of course, most of the time I had no where to plug it in.
And when I did plug it in and load 16 GB cards onto it, the device grew quite warm. I am still out of the country and unable to download my video until another week. I am not at all confident it will have safely stored all my work.

I bought it because I was using my 40GB ipod, but the battery gets low while it is still transfering data, with PicPac II you are able to connect the device while it transfers the info. It is fast.
I've had it for 2 weeks and I haven't found a way to review that your transfers are ther. Once it finishes copying, I'm never sure if the information is at the device.

I bought this drive to download camera memory cards on trips. When I received it, the battery was inoperational and I managed to get the company to send me a replacement that worked. I haven't had the occasion to use it again, but at least the battery charges now. I wish there was some way to use the screen to at least see a file tree to make sure the transfer occurred, but that comes at a price higher than I wanted to pay.

Comments about Wolverine PicPac II 250GB Digital Camera and Camcorder Portable Backup:
I took the device to a racetrack to grab video from many of my buddies video cameras after each race. I was only able to copy one card, about 6 gb, on the first charge of the battery. After plugging the device in to the power outlet, I found out that it will not simultaneously charge and copy files. Too slow and cumbersome for my needs with poor battery life.

Comments about Wolverine PicPac II 250GB Digital Camera and Camcorder Portable Backup:
I use the PicPac II to backup my CF and SD cards every day. It is simple to use, light to carry and has a large disk space so it can last for a couple of weeks of photography. The only thing I wish it could do is copy only nw photos not all the ones on the card.

Does it's job and does it well. Tons of space. Went on a 3 week trip to Europe and each night backed up my memory card(s). Made me much less worried about if my card got damaged, lost, camera got stolen, etc. It's a bit slow to copy, but hey, we're taking like 5GB a clip and stuff. Power supply is a bit bulky to carry around, but if you're only going for a week you can charge once no problem and leave the charger at home.

Comments about Wolverine PicPac II 250GB Digital Camera and Camcorder Portable Backup:
This product works as described but I question its dependability. I use it to back up compact flash and sd cards during photo shoots like weddings and portrait sessions. The problem is even after charging it for a long period of time, the first time I use it, the device's battery indicator still flashes like it's running out. It also is kind of touchy in terms of turning it on and pressing the backup button.
The bottom line is for the price it makes sense, but I never really know if it's going to make it through the whole download process. Therefore if you have more money to spend and want absolute reliability, choose something else.

I had a 40 Gb Wolverine for a few years and it worked well. It is very difficult to put CF cardas in this model. The battery will not hold a charge for any usable length of time. Compatred to the earlier model this one is useless.
Neither model shows you what has been downloaded.

This is a pretty basic unit. You can back up pictures from a variety of cards and off load them when you get home.
It would be nice if it came with a case for a bit more protection. Other than that, it does what it is supposed to do.

I have only had the device for a few weeks now, but I already am far more impressed with it than I was with a similar device that it's replacing. I had read that people had a terrible time with the device holding a charge, but so far I think it's better than anything I've owned in the past.

Excellent product for affordable price. This kind of item is hard to get in Australia. B&H have been a perfect place to get this product. With the best prices around, [...], ease of purchase [...].The Pic Pac II does exactly what it is advertised to do. Will be perfect for my year long around the world trip, especially when off the beaten track on treks, when I need to clear up my memory card and then keep on shooting. Useful backup device so that I don't lose those important snaps.Recommend to anyone!!

I'm planning to use this device on a trip to Costa Rica, and have tested it thoroughly with both 2 GB (class 4) and 4 GB (class 6) SD Micro cards with and SD adapter. I've also used it to transfer both video and photos to my computer via USB, and it seems to work great. I'm using a Mac and iPhoto so I can't speak to how well this works on a PC. My only criticism is that the transfer speeds could be a little faster, both moving photos/videos from the cards and to the computer. I haven't tried a transfer withe the AC adapter plugged in, maybe that would make it faster?

when travelling, your camera is the worst place to store your pictures. It may be stolen, drowned, dropped or broken. A computer often is too heavy and needs power. Buy an iThing, people said. But the iThing is expensive and even more easily stolen. The Wolverine PicPac II solved my problems. storing 250GB pictures, more than my daily need, battery driven, pocket size, and single button operated. A great help !

I am planning a trip to Cuba in the coming month and was feeling weary on taking my computer, heaven forbid it be confiscated. I need the storage because I shoot a lot of video which eats up memory. This portable storage device is the perfect solution, having 250GB and being inconspicuous. It's quite small and much easier to carry around than a 10lb laptop. The price is really decent and so far all test have proven successful. The only thing that could improve it would be image previews on the screen, but I'll settle.

I use it to make backup copies of my CF and SD cards while traveling. The PicPac simply makes a unique folder for a card that is being copied, then copies all the card content to that folder.

Before I first use this, I put to charge and it just burned out, too much smoking and could use it at all. My home power was right, AC 110v.
It's the second item I have bought and just stop working.

Comments about Wolverine PicPac II 250GB Digital Camera and Camcorder Portable Backup:
I was planning to backpack around Europe and the last thing I wanted was to lug a heavy computer. I looked up Portable Backup's that I could unload my memory cards onto (I have a compact flash and a scan-disk memory cards).
At first I was a little scared that not all the images were saved, because I did read a review that it doesn't read certain memory cards (extreme compact flash and scan disk) which I own! But I check on my computer and they were all there! What a relief!
There were times in Europe where I was in "dangerous areas" for robbers. The Wolverine is small enough that it isn't flashy and doesn't cause attention. It loads up images fast, so you can get up and running to take more photos in no time.
I highly recommend this product if you're planning on traveling and need to upload your photos.
