Comments about Vanguard PH-240 Window Mount With Ball Head:

The clamp is solid. The ball head works fine for my Nikon D60 and normal lens. I have to crank it down pretty hard to get it to hold a Nikon 70-300 lens on my D60 though. It is incapable of supporting my D60 connected to a 80mm spotting scope. That's a pretty extreme task but that combination does not exceed the rated load weight capability. The fact that its not a balanced configuration makes the weight rating a moot point.I will replace the head with a SBH250 and hope that does better. You can remove the head by poking a hole in the foam padding at the top of the clamp. Another advantage of the SBH 250 head is a separate panning lock. With the included head you must release the ball to pan. Good luck keeping it level during a panning sequence. The pressure knob holds the quick release plate securely and I am fine with the 2nd quick release security button. The quick plate screw must be tightened with a coin or screwdriver. So overall it should perform well if you don't have a heavy combination mounted on it and if you can do without separate panning locking.

Comments about Vanguard PH-240 Window Mount With Ball Head:

It easily supports my 7D and the Sigma 150-500mm. It's ball head is great. It's sturdy and is pretty easy to use, at least it was on my Ford Escort window. HOWEVER, this thing is very tall and it has proved to be unusable in the window of my new Ford Fiesta.

Comments about Vanguard PH-240 Window Mount With Ball Head:

I wanted a small, yet secure window mount, and so far the mount performs as advertised. If I could offer an improvement, it would be to replace the screw to mount the base plate to the camera with a screw that would be easier to hand tighten.

Comments about Vanguard PH-240 Window Mount With Ball Head:

The mount looks and feels well made. It weights a lot more than I expected which is a good thing. Exploring the Nevada desert, I take a lot of shots of opportunity from my truck. I can secure the mount to my window and the camera to the mount in a few seconds. While the Vanguard quick release adapter worked well, I replaced it with a Manfrotto adapter for commonality with my mono & tripod. The ball head easily supports my Nikon D80 with 70-300mm lense.
