The Manfrotto 503HDV Head w/745XB Tripod & Bag is a great matchup between sturdy aluminum legs and Manfrotto's professional fluid video head.

With the 745XB you get a two-stage aluminum tripod designed specifically for run-and-gun videographers using DV or lightweight HD camcorders where rapid, reliable setup and take-down is paramount. The 745XB has been redesigned for better ergonomics of the leg-angle release mechanism and improved quick-action leg locks. The flip-lever leg locks clamp down tightly in one motion, yet are adjustable for wear over time. The built-in 50mm leveling ball provides rapid column leveling on uneven terrain, while leg tubes are grooved and keyed for torsional stability during setup and use.

The 503HDV Pro Fluid Video Head is intended for mid-sized camcorders weighing up to 17.6 lbs (8 kg). It features a quick-release camera plate and extra smooth fluid-dampened pan and tilt movements with separate locks. The continuously-variable fluid drag system provides just the right amount of dampening for any shot--from whip pans to slow motion, just dial in drag to touch. This capability, in conjunction with the 3-step counterbalance, delivers the type of fingertip camera control normally reserved for much more costly fluid heads.
