The Velbon UP-400DX 4-Section Video Monopod is a lightweight camcorder support with an integrated tilting video head. The four sections of the UP-400DX extend to a maximum height of 66.5" and retract to 22.4" for easy transport or storage.

The removable pan bar controls the front-to-back tilt of the head, and it can be employed to rotate the monopod at the foot for panning. The head's tilt action features a measure of resistance for a fluid effect, ensuring this movement is not haphazard or jerky but rather deliberate and smooth. The back-to-front tilt range is -45 to +90°.

The monopod head is matched with a QB-4L quick-release plate, which is longer than typical quick-release plates that are designed for still cameras. It features a video pin for extra camcorder stability.

With the adjustable shoulder strap the UP-400DX provides a convenient way to carry the monopod. Wrapped around your arm or body while you operate the camcorder, the strap can serve as a line of security for your gear, in case your grip on the monopod slips.

Comments about Velbon UP-400DX 4-Section Video Monopod:

Great overall monopod...being a 6'3" man I had been looking for a monopod that could fit me and with this Velbon UP-400DX it stretches to an outstanding 66.5", also shrinks down to a compact size for traveling. The head on it is very smooth in moving up and down...no jerky movement. I did remove the shoulder strap due to it moving around in the wind when trying to use the video mode on my Canon T3i it tends to make some noise. If you're on a budget and in need of a strong monopod this should be right up your alley.

Comments about Velbon UP-400DX 4-Section Video Monopod:

I bought it to use with my Sony AX2000E. I wanted to make my shots steadier using this monopod, it was almost the cheapest one.
I didn't actually use it. It seems flimsy and too long to put it in monopod belt pouch. At full length it's long enough, longer than most people.
I ordered an Manfrotto monopod with folding base and die cast ball head. I'll present this item to somebody.

Comments about Velbon UP-400DX 4-Section Video Monopod:

Compact and Lightweight. Good value for a monopod with a quick release plate. I use it for event video work, so the strap was useless.

The strap is attached by a metal screw and clip that for some reason kept spinning when I tried to take it off, so I used a bolt cutter to take it off. I also had to cut off the straps from the other end because they wouldn't come off any other way. The strap needs to be removed for video work because it makes a metal rattling sound when moved... not great for audio.

All in all, it does the job I needed after some modifications.

Comments about Velbon UP-400DX 4-Section Video Monopod:

This is my first monopod, and I don't have any problems with it.

What I like about this monopod:

The handle can be adjusted/removed easily.
Tilting has some resistance that makes it tilt smoothly.
The quick release is easy to use.
