Velbon CX-Mini 3-Section Aluminum Tripod w/ 3-Way Pan Head
The Velbon CX-Mini 3-Section Aluminum Tripod w/ 3-Way Pan Head is a mini tripod that reaches a maximum height of 25.2" when you fully extend its leg stages and center column. A 3-way pan head tops the tripod, enabling front-to-back and 90° sideways tilt as well as full rotation. The tripod comes with a QB-4LC quick release plate that features a standard 1/4"-20 stud and a video pin. The CX-Mini is ideal for video use – perhaps in a conference room shooting from a tabletop – or for low-angle photography.
Constructed of lightweight aluminum, the CX-Mini tripod weighs only 1.7 lb and supports loads up to 9 lb, for use with most DSLR cameras and compact camcorders. It folds down to only 11.8" for easy transport.

I bought this tripod to get low to the ground for Macro photography. Also starting to use it for tabletop absract shots. It's small but a little heavy which is nice as I don't feel like my body and lens are going to tip forward.

I wanted a tripod that is lightweight, not bulky, yet powerful and stable. I found this online in BH, and believe me, I bought this gear blindly not knowing what to expect. When I received it, I thought it was too Big and Bulky, but guess what? It fit perfectly in my handbag! Imagine to my suprise that I would be carrying a tripod everywhere without people noticing it! It was superb! Not only the size is awesome, but also the quality. Very stable, and the adjustments are very pleasing, portrait or landscape shot. I recommend this to everyone!I included some pictures I have taken using this tripod.

I have another Manfrotto tripod for normal/heavy uses. I bought this one because I was looking for something small, light-weight, that I can easily take with me and can carry my camera (D90 + 18-105 or 11-16).
It's a nice product, not a very professional one but I think it holds my camera easily.
I highly recommend as a second tripod.

The CX-Mini is well designed and made. The panhead did not support my 4 1/2 lb. spotting scope steady enough. If it had been a ballhead it might have worked. B&H did a great job of replacing it with a tripold that works adequately.

Education majors are required to record several video teaching sessions before graduation. I put together several video recording packages for the students to use. Budget was an issue. I wanted an inexpensive tripod that could be placed on a table or desk for additional height, and I found the Velbon CX-Mini 3-Section Aluminum tripod for [$]each. It's sturdy, light weight, cost effective, and can accommodate a Canon HV40 or other Vidcams/Stills of equal size and weight. I also chose the Zoom H1 digital recorder, using a Lav microphone - editing the sound from the Zoom with the Canon image. This combination provided excellent student portfolio video and sound.

I use the tripod for low angle macro and low wide angle shots. I can set it on the car hood, top, or trunk lid to take pictures. It fits in my backpack and doesn't stick out. It supports my Canon T2i with long lens and is stable. It only starts to be unstable when fully extended. I then use another tripod.

This is a wonderful product at a great price. 3 separate knobs let you rotate the head multiple ways. The legs extend with snap open/close clips rather than turning a knob and then slide smoothly, making setup and takedown fast. It holds a good amount of weight securely and fits nicely onto the side of my camera bag. A plastic piece with the thread comes off for easy attachment to the camera, then fits back into a slot which is then held tightly by a lever. This makes it easy to see when you're threading your camera.

We use this to take product pictures for catalog and website graphics, but don't have a studio to work with.
This tripod offers full features and is nice and compact and lightweight so it travels easily and doesn't take up half your work area as a full size tripod would.
Construction is robust enought to trust mounting your equipment on, and flexible and adjustable to adapt to various configurations.
I would highly reccommend this to others.
