Pearstone Compact AC/DC Charger for Canon BP-808, BP-809, BP-819 & BP-827 Battery
This Pearstone Compact AC/DC Charger is intended for use with Pearstone and Canon BP-808, BP-809, BP-819 & BP-827 batteries. Via the flip-out two-prong plug, the charger draws power from an AC wall source, and with the included DC car adapter it can connect to a vehicle's cigarette lighter. Ideal for traveling, the charger comes with a Euro adapter and features multi-voltage capability (100-240VAC). Additionally, the Compact Charger features a USB power output to charge & power MP3 players, phones, digital cameras, and other devices with a USB power input.
With its easily interchangeable plate, the charger can also be used for other battery models that are not listed above – via the separate purchase of an additional battery plate that's compatible with the intended battery model.
Featuring protection against overcharging and overheating, the Compact Charger safely and quickly recharges a compatible Li-ion camera or camcorder battery and one USB-powered device.

- The charger's light glows red while a battery is charging, and it turns green when a normal charge is complete. (After the light turns green, leave the battery in the charger for an additional hour to ensure a full charge)

This is a good low-cost alternative to the Canon charger. The unit charges well enough. I have charged a BP-809 Canon battery as well as aftermarket BP-819 and BP-827 batteries. I do not know the charge times as I usually leave them overnight. I can say that they charged to the same level as the camera attached charger.
The unit seems well-enough built. The battery snaps into the charger, but is not quite as tight as I would like when seated. Also, without a cord (unit plugs directly into the wall), it is hard to see the charge indicator if you put the long side down. The charge indicator is red if charging and green when done. If you put the long side up, the charge indicator is easy to see, but the unit has trouble staying in the wall with the bigger batteries (BP-819 and BP-827). Not a huge deal, but I wish it had a cord.
All-in-all a good value compared to the ridiculously priced canon unit.

I have this charger, as well as the Canon CG-800 Charger Adapter (yes, it's for the BP-800 series) I bought second. The Canon is faster. I found that I do need the speed and reliability of the charger designed for my battery. I will eventually get another Canon & keep this for emergencies.

The 2nd one worked as per specs. This initial one would not turn red with a daed battery and did not charge. The replacement worked immediately on the dead battery and charged it perfectly.

Charger has a nice and small profile, and is etremely easy to use and store. Swaping plate to accomodate other battery models sometimes disconnects when removing battery, but is a mild inconvenience.

Great charger, flawlessly charges my Canon BP-827 battery pack. I was concerned about compatibility issues with Canon's intelligent battery interface, but the charger works great. Comes with a car charger, foreign plug adapter, and a USB port to charge USB devices. Great value, you don't have to spend a lot more for the original charger!

Also charges the larger capacity BP-819 batteries. It doesn't indicate it anywhere on the B&H site but the documentation with the product indicates that it does . . . and after charging my BP-891 battery I can confirm that it does work!
