I just got the ikan system and used it for a video and still shoot. It worked really well. I used scrims between the light and the subject to create a nice soft light. I had the lights on all day on one of the hottest days of the year and I appreciated that they did not put off heat.
I'm looking forward to getting the battery pack system and use it on location

I have used this light kit for interviews in close quarters where the heat from traditional tungsten lighting would make any interviewee uncomfortably hot. The lights have 4 banks of LEDs, a dimmer control and long power cords. Have not noticed any flickering and I am generally happy with the lights. Only time will tell if they are durable and am anxious to use them in studio applications. The case that comes with the light kit is well padded but the strap for carrying broke on the first day which now makes the case hard to carry because of its large size, Would have been better to have designed the case on wheels.

Picked these up for my work as a part time freelancer and while they are a bit pricey for someone just getting into this, they are a great and well worth it. You NEED good lighting and this is a killer start.

I've been using my Ikan Kit for location to location video and photo shoots. They are great for portability. I can carry my 3 lights, stands, Canon 5D and Tripod in a maximum of 2 trips. The lights give me plenty of control over brightness to create appropriate key, fill, and backing lights. Being able to dim, and selectively energize every fourth row of LED's is great.

The case is nice but a tad bulky due to how it closes and that it holds 3 larger lights. I will eventually build a custom case for them that has a smaller profile. But this one is nice enough that there is no real rush on it.

I needed a travel friendly low voltage kit. I tave been using frenels for years, but since the LED lights have offer quite a convenience I gave it a try. I find it difficult to creat or focus a pattern of light and if you are lighting products this may not be the kit for you. I also find the case to be very flimsy I would not travel with it. I believe these lights to be great for interiews but not for artistic lighting

The lights appear sturdy and well made. They project a good, soft pattern without hot spots. A little "minus green" gel might be useful in some situations. The built-in dimmer and bank switches are very handy. The supplied stands are decent but not perfectly finished. I like the case, except that the mounting of the strap assumes you'll carry it horizontally, flat, which is very inconvenient. I'll be using this for interviews and similar situations where the low power consumption and heat of LED lighting will make it easier to work in ordinary offices and similar settings where tungsten lights might heat things up too much or blow fuses. All in all this is a good starter kit for LED lighting, although I will probably gradually upgrade to higher-end fixtures (e.g. Lightpanels) as I can afford them and learn to use them.
