This is a great little monitor, for the price. Is it as good as a professional monitor? Of course not. Will it get the job done? For the most part. It really comes down to your shooting style. Personally, I mostly use a Z-Finder with my HDSLRs, so this is just a back up for low-angle shots & two camera interview shoots.

But before you rush out & buy one, there is one thing you should probably be aware of. This monitor isn't actually built by Marshall. I happen to have both this monitor & another, both of which are EXACTLY the same, other than the "brand" on the front. Having said that, Marshall's is definitely the best version out there of this particular monitor. Why? Mainly because it comes with a Canon battery adapter plate. It's pretty great being able to use the same batteries for my Canon 5D Mark II, 7D, and monitor all at the same time.

For what I paid for this package, you're getting a pretty sweet deal. I mainly got the package just so I could get the extra battery, aside from that all the stuff in the package is pretty useless (for me anyway). Very light weight, very easy to use, good color, good power consumption. Like all monitors when you're recording you don't see the HD pic quality, only when reviewing what you've got do you see the HD. That's mainly why I decided to go for a low end (but still Marshall good quality) product. There is a much bigger and better Manhatten that I'm eventually going to upgrade to. But for now this suits my purposes just fine, which is for pulling focus and being able to get low angle shots with my DSLR. There is noise on the screen, but nothing terribly appalling, just don't expect it to be like the lcd on the back of your camera. So yeah, like I said good bang for the buck, good beginner's monitor. Overall, not too impressed, but from what I hear even with the high end monitors, people still aren't that impressed. ALSO!! No sunhood!! You have to mail this piece of paper in for it! Which just aggravates the heck outta me!! AARRGH!!!

I use the 7" monitor on my hd video camera, to video grandchildren sports. The clarity is exceptional, and allows me to follow the action very easily. I video football and soccer, both are fast moving. The only negatine is the mount, which can sometimes loosen a little. Otherwise, I am delighted beyond words with the monitor

Comments about Marshall Electronics M-LCD7-HDMI-CE6 7" Portable On-Camera Field Monitor w/Canon LP-E6 Adapter:

I am using this Marshall Monitor on a fig rig with a Nikon D7000 and it is such a nice addition.

Very light weight and easy to use. It is a bit heavy on contrast so it is difficult to get an exact match to what you see on the camera LCD (The reason why I subtracted 1 star) but like any other monitor you quickly grow accustomed to how the image will translate when you see it on your editing computer's monitor.

I would definitely recommend this for amateur, advanced amateur and professional use when you need to be able to monitor your shots without having to place your eye to the viewfinder.

My only issue with this product so far is that there is a bit of a crop when using it with a 5D. in other words the image does not fill up the entire screen. otherwise it makes focusing alot easier. your still getting a way larger image than you do on the 5D's native display so for the price this monitor is worth every penny.

Comments about Marshall Electronics M-LCD7-HDMI-CE6 7" Portable On-Camera Field Monitor w/Canon LP-E6 Adapter:

I first used a friend's 5" Marshall field monitor briefly (V-LCD50-HDMI) before deciding to purchase the M-LCD-7-HDMI-CE6. I would say that the other model has better crispness and brightness, particularly in outdoor light. The ability to map function buttons is also nice.

This model however, is a great value, and price was a primary motivator in the choice between the two models. The package I purchased came with a second battery included, and with the LP-E6 battery being the same as my Canon 7D cameras it was helpful to have compatibility and extra chargers.

The lack of function buttons makes flipping the monitor cumbersome, so if you move from low hand held to high shoulder in your work, and need to turn the monitor at all you should know that flip functions are buried in the menus and not as convenient as with the LCD50. Not a problem in my configuration, which is primarily tripod.

The two real negatives to speak of:
      1) The ball head mount on this unit, which seems to be common to all Marshall units does not lock with confidence, and can result in the monitor shifting out of place. I solved this problem with the purchase of the articulating arms, and an alternative ball head.
      2) The unit does not power off completely. If you're going to leave hte unit off for an extended period you can take your pick of removing the battery or the power cord from the battery pack. This is an inconvenience in some respects (like a lunch break) but not a big deal at all when packing up for the night (I prefer to remove and charge the battery(s)).

Build quality is solid (aside from the ball mount), as you can expect from Marshall. I definitely recommend this and other field monitors from Marshall.

While the hood is not included, the kit purchased from B&H included a mail-in voucher to receive a complimentary hood.

Comments about Marshall Electronics M-LCD7-HDMI-CE6 7" Portable On-Camera Field Monitor w/Canon LP-E6 Adapter:

Yes, it is not the super professional 2000 bucks monitor you might want for your 200 million dollars Hollywood production. But, if you have a Canon 7D or 5D or any camera that uses the same kind of battery and all you basically and mainly want is for focus A LOT better than with your small 3'' LCD screen on your DSLR,.. GO FOR IT!It was a God send on my short film just being able to use the same batteries as my camera. You can also plug it to a power source, but I was using a dolly and preferred using the batteries. Mine also came with an extra battery which is an AMAZING plus if you think about the money you are saving right there. The battery lasted more on this monitor than on my camera. Best deal on the entire internet at the moment for an external decent monitor, by far. And yes, I did ALL my research.

Comments about Marshall Electronics M-LCD7-HDMI-CE6 7" Portable On-Camera Field Monitor w/Canon LP-E6 Adapter:

I use it on-set exterior and interior.
                The Good:
It is bright enough to see even on a sunny day though a visor helps. I made one out of black foam core and velcro.
I use it primarily to set focus and keep focus through moving shots. The image is sharp and vivid.

                The Bad:
Having a plastic body makes it feel like it is fragile and could break easily.
The plastic buttons are hard to press causing my monitor to move unless I hold it with both hands.
And my biggest complaint is the Indicator light. You would assume that it indicates whether the monitor is on or off. . .wrong. It turns on when you put the battery in and turns off when you remove the battery or when it is dead. So it is a battery indicator light. There is no on/off light indicator. So if your monitor is black, you don't know if it's on or off or if the camera's lens cap is on or if you have your aperture closed too much. I struggled with this during an action shoot and it was very disconcerting. I would like to see the indicator light tell whether the unit is on or off and have another light or on screen indicator for the battery.

It will be nice if it had a video output so i can duplicate the signal of my Canon 5D Mark II, to watch the image in two monitors, but that would be too much for that price, i guess.

Great value for the money. You will also need a longer HDMI cable if you don't mount it to your camera.

Comments about Marshall Electronics M-LCD7-HDMI-CE6 7" Portable On-Camera Field Monitor w/Canon LP-E6 Adapter:

This monitor fits well with the Canon 7d and 5d (which is how I use it.) Although I suspect I'm in the minority, I have found instances in which I am alone, and standing in FRONT of the camera; the monitor helps find focus.

Definitely an improvement on the camera's monitor when outdoors, because you can tilt and shift the position of the monitor to reduce glare, while you may not always be able to change the position of the camera, right?

The design is a little spindly, but perhaps that is due to the size of the camera is is meant to fit on (the Canon 7d and 5d are small) and this monitor adds little weight. Purchasing a carrying case is essential, because it would seem this monitor could be fairly easily damaged.

For the price of the kit, which includes 2 batteries and a charger, as well as every kind of connection wire you could want, and including a table mount, this is a pretty good deal all around.

Comments about Marshall Electronics M-LCD7-HDMI-CE6 7" Portable On-Camera Field Monitor w/Canon LP-E6 Adapter:

I haven't had any issues with this monitor for my Canon 7D. The only complaint is that the monitor quality is downgraded (not b/c of the monitor but the camera), so paying for a monitor that is the same size will be just as promising... although I can't speak on the actual quality and build of another monitor, this one seems to be well built and tough enough for your basic falls. If money isn't an issue definitely get this~

I understand that there aren't many options as far as monitors go on the "low-end", but even for this price it just doesn't seem worth it. There are other monitors in this price range (and cheaper) that have more features than this one, so I returned it for one of them instead. There are literally no features on this monitor, it's practically just plug it in and your image is on the screen--nothing else. I didn't expect much, but it didn't even meet my low expectations. I don't really understand what justifies the price tag. The monitor feels very cheap as well. I suppose it would do if there were no other option, but it just wasn't for me.

Great definition and amazing low price. It´s very lightwheight and U should be able to attach at the shoemount and still be cappable of hand operate without any trouble. Therre´s no false collor or loopthrough hdmi, but what do U expect from this price?

It is totally worth it! I use it with my Canon 7D and both of them are attached on HandySLR. It is a great product, 800 x 480 resolution is high enough to see Canon's hi definition captures while shooting. You can see tons of 640x480 analog monitors on the market even more expensive than this product. So don't think too much to buy if you really need it. One of the best things for me that it uses Canon's LP-E6 battery which is also needed to run Canon 7D and Mark5D. So I can say that this product is part of your production set.

Comments about Marshall Electronics M-LCD7-HDMI-CE6 7" Portable On-Camera Field Monitor w/Canon LP-E6 Adapter:

Shortly after I upgraded from a Canon 40D to a 5D Mark II, I found myself tinkering with its video capabilities. As I continued to learn the art, I found myself wishing for a larger, portable display than the 5DmkII's LCD.

After researching various options including monitors, projectors and magnifying loupes, I chose this monitor kit for two reasons. First, the price was simply unbeatable when I considered how it would impact my projects. The monitor allows me to frame shots accurately and quickly, especially when I'm manually focusing a dynamic scene. Secondly, with the HDMI input and use of the LP-E6 battery, the monitor kit interfaces seamlessly with the 5DmkII.

I am very pleased with this product.

I purchased this item to use with my Canon 5D Mk II while doing nature and wildlife video. It compliments this wonderful camera very well but needs a good, substantial hood to keep the sun off it. I have created one from lightweight foam board which works very well.
