The Hatcam Mounting System (Forest Green) from Hatcams was created by outdoor enthusiast Randy Peterson in an effort to capture his solo hunting and fishing expeditions. Perhaps it was to give legitimacy to "fish tales" or, as the avid sportsman states, simply to share these memories with friends and family. Either way, Mr. Peterson's simple, yet inventive solution, allows anyone to capture video with a lightweight pocket camcorder or camera from a first person point of view - all without breaking the bank - no matter what your subject matter.
Simple in design, the Hatcam is easy to use with its patent-pending universal mount. It's also outdoor chic in popular sporting color schemes. And, probably most appealing is the fact that because it's a hat, something you'd probably be wearing while out hunting or fishing anyway, your camera or camcorder won't get in the way. It gives a nice option for video, though it doesn't solve every problem.
It takes some head control, and you don't see what you're aiming at exactly.
You may have to experiment on how to wear the hat - for instance it has to be tipped back a lot if you're using it on a bicycle, to photograph ahead.
Walking may jar the video more than you'd want.
But it does give you an option that often works nicely too.
