This particular SLC 42 HD is also known as the SLC 10x42 W B HD. The SLC stands for Slim, Light, and Compact - as evidenced by a trim form-factor that's relatively light and small enough to travel with easily. The W indicates that the optic is fully waterproof - it's nitrogen purged and sealed to ensure all-weather performance. I know most reviews for this item have been for bird watching, I am into horse racing and these binoculars give me a view of the entire track. I am not sure why I waited so long to get them. The price point is up there but you will be more than happy you have these. They are a weight that is manageable and I can focus on exactly what I want to see.
