Comments about Avangard Optics AN-E500 eScope 500x USB 2.0 Mega Pixel Digital Microscope:
You can adjust focus and light manually.
It's too sensible, the little "tripod" could be greater.

Comments about Avangard Optics AN-E500 eScope 500x USB 2.0 Mega Pixel Digital Microscope:
The eScope has great, but *nonadjustable*, 500X magnification. At this power the field of view is about .3mm, so it's difficult to get a sense of where you're at over a specimen, unlike a traditional microscope with its powers of 40X, 100X and 400X. If you don't need 500X power, get an adjustable 10X-200X digital scope. But if you do need 500X, a good set up is to use an adjustable scope to locate an area of interest on your specimen and then swap in the 500X scope for finer detail.
The stand included with the eScope is junk. If you plan on taking photos or video, get a real stand. There are universal digital microscope stands that have a stage which can be moved along the X and Y axes and also feature fine focusing (up and down) over the specimen.

Years ago, you would have to pay high dollar for this kind of technology...this is beyond my expections except for no slide holder built into the microscope..

Comments about Avangard Optics AN-E500 eScope 500x USB 2.0 Mega Pixel Digital Microscope:
I've used many microscopes of this kind and I must say that this one provides better image quality and higher magnification that any handheld digital microscopes out there. It is a bit tricky to use as it is actually a real optical microscope and it focuses exactly like any real lab microscope. This microscope is ideal for professional use (forensics, research, etc.) but may be difficult to operate for the casual user.

Comments about Avangard Optics AN-E500 eScope 500x USB 2.0 Mega Pixel Digital Microscope:
The scope works but there's no way to hold it steady since the adjustable stand does not fit the scope. Either it was a packing error or design flaw.
