The Pelco Monochrome Simplex Genex Multiplexer (16 Channels, RS-170) allows you to record video feeds from up to 16 different sources on 1 VCR, and to view any of the 16 feeds in full-screen mode while recording. The multiplexer comes with 4 multi-camera display modes - PIP (2 cameras), quad (4 cameras), 9, and 16 camera displays. It also has 4 VCR compatibility modes - standard, auto tracking, VCR matching, and custom. For better image quality and clarity, the multiplexer makes use of advanced digital video processing.

The Monochrome Simplex Genex Multiplexer comes with Pelco's "Covert" recording/monitoring feature, which allows you to record the feed from any camera secretly without getting it displayed on any connected monitor during live view or playback. Further, being equipped with advanced activity detection, the multiplexer automatically detects and captures any noteworthy and/or suspicious activity. The unit comes with 2 independent monitor outputs and 16 looping video inputs. For ease of use and operations, it makes use of on-screen programming menus.

Performance
  • Recording of feeds from up to 16 cameras on 1 VCR - Records feeds from up to 16 different cameras on 1 VCR. This considerably streamlines your setup as it gives you the ability to capture the feeds from up to 16 different locations from 1 central bay.
  • Full-screen viewing while recording - Allows you to view any of the 16 different feeds in the full-screen mode while recording. You can also record and play a particular feed simultaneously.
  • Multi-camera display modes - Simultaneously displays feeds from multiple cameras, and comes with 4 multi-camera display modes: PIP (2 cameras), quad (4 cameras), 9, and 16 camera displays.
  • 4 VCR compatibility modes - Comes with 4 VCR compatibility modes - standard, auto tracking, VCR matching, and custom.
  • Advanced digital video processing technology - Improves image clarity and smoothens multi-camera displays. Advanced image resizing and digital filtering technologies provide high-quality multi-camera viewing and zooming during playback, ensuring high-quality images with minimal aliasing.
  • "Covert" recording/monitoring feature - Gives you the ability to monitor a location without letting anybody know about it. The "Covert" feature allows you to record the feeds from particular cameras confidentially without getting the feeds displayed on any connected monitor during live view or during playback.
  • Advanced activity detection - In addition to the handy "Covert" recording/monitoring feature, the Simplex Genex Multiplexer features advanced activity detection and automatically detects any suspicious activity and report the same to the control bay for automatic capture, recording, and/or live view display. Further, for enhanced detection capability, the multiplexer comes with adjustable sensitivity levels for all cameras and a programmable detection mask. You can also prioritize cameras for faster/focused recording and display using the advanced activity detection.
Inputs and Outputs
  • 2 independent monitor outputs - A main monitor output (that boasts of such features as full-screen call-up and sequencing during recording, and full-screen call-up and multi-camera display during playback) and a spot monitor output (that boasts of such features as full-screen call-up, sequencing, and alarm-based trigger).
  • 16 looping video inputs - Can be used to display the feed from any of the 16 cameras or any other external device (such as a display monitor or a switcher) on any display monitor connected to it.
Operations
  • On-screen programming menus - Makes set up much easier and faster.
  • On-screen alphanumeric display - Displays basic information such as 12-character camera titles, time, date, alarm, and video.
  • Four-language support - Supports 4 languages: English, French, German, and Spanish.
  • Password protection - For better data protection and privacy, the multiplexer also comes with password protection for some of the rather important programming options including the "Covert" recording/monitoring feature and the on-screen programming menus.
  • Alarm-based video capture/playback - Multiple alarm handling features include priority/exclusive alarm recording and display; you can set the system to initiate recording or display over a certain feed as per a pre-set schedule and can also use an alarm to start recording a camera feed secretly using the "Covert" feature.
  • Pan, Tilt, and Lens Control via Coaxitron - When used along with the KBD4000 full-function keyboard controller, the multiplexer supports pan, tilt, and lens control over a standard 15-bit Coaxitron receiver (all pan, tilt, and lens functions; auxiliary on/off) and over a standard 32-bit Coaxitron receiver (all pan, tilt, and lens functions; auxiliary on/off; setting and calling presets and patterns). The pan, tilt, and lens control gives you easy control over the camera lens and lets you make basic adjustments right from 1 central location.
  • Playback support for other manufacturers' tapes - The Genex multiplexer is capable of playing tapes made using other manufacturers' multiplexers. However, in the case of Dedicated Micros models DM/SPG4/S/N/090 and DM/SPC4/D/N/6M, proper programming must be done to ensure that the tapes are compatible with the multiplexer. Tapes made using the DM model SPR2AS/C/M/M are incompatible with the unit.
