I started out with a MAC years ago, but got switched to a Windows based system due to the company I work for. I decided to go back to Mac for my home use, and I am glad I made the switch. True, the cost is more, but the environment is stable, smooth, and easy to use. The IMAc has a sleek, uncluttered design, which helps minimize the amount of "stuff" on my desk taking up space. I find the speed of use is far better than the PC I replaced, and I have not had a glitch in the two months of use so far. I bought the basic unit and had B&H install additional RAM which was a cost savings over buying a unit with the RAM I needed installed at the factory.

A good choice for a desktop Mac for the money. The 27" screen is bright with excellent resolution. The bundled Parallels Desktop 6 is an excellent app for seamlessly running Windows-based apps.
Downsides are:
1) The Snow Leopard Migration Assistant offers limited granularity in moving selected apps, user info, etc. Therefore, the migration had to be done manually over Firewire with the source machine in Firewire Target Mode. Migration Assistant over Ethernet with an iMac G5 doesn't work, only via Firewire.
2) Keyboard has a cheap feel to it. Key spacing is different than standard keyboards. Also, lacks extended keyboard capabilities - disappointing for a product in this price range. Previous iMac G5 was shipped with extended keyboard.
3) The wireless mouse is very sensitive to subtle movements beyond the standard mouse navigation and clicking.
3) Only a single Firewire port. previous iMac G5 had two.

Use computer for home and work. No issues after using this for three months. Installed Windows 7 for Bootcamp. Installation was very time consuming, but program works.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
If you have a wireless router you only need to set your iMac on a desk and plug it in. Keyboard and mouse are wireless so you can sit back in your office chair and relax! Everything is built in except the printer. Connects to my wireless network wirelessly to surf the web or print a document with my network laser printer. The 27 inch monitor has to be seen to be believed; nothing else even comes close! Lighting fast, high quality item. Loaded Microsoft office for MAC so I can communicate with the PC world. The operating system is stable but if you must have windows it can run that also.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
I'm a 60+ year old who didn't want to give up his old machine because my wife's business depends on one small antiquated application program that only runs on Windows XP. My IT guy assured me that Parallels would be my answer -- and so glad I listened! The transfer from Windows to Mac took about an hour (e-mails, address book, documents, photos and iTunes). The 27" iMac has such a big, beautiful screen and the iMac OS runs so flawlessly. Best of all, I can switch over to Windows quickly and painlessly for that one old program that held me back. [...]

Glad I made the switch from a Windows-baced PC to iMac. You pay more, but you get more. Software is more intuitive (Snow Leopard 10.6), more software is included in package deal. The design of the computer is very sleek, and space-saving. Screen is clear, bright and doesn't cause eyestrain the way my PC monitor did. My only complain thusfar is the keyboard can be a bit cramped if typing for long periods of time. Other than that, iMac is a great computer!

I finally made the move from PC to Mac and couldn't be happier. Everything about this machine is user friendly. It was good to go right out of the box.
I wasn't sure about going with the 27" because I have another computer on my desk for work and thought it might make my desk too crowded but the all in one design of the iMAC actually gives me more room on my desk.
I will never go back to a PC.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
I was really worried about getting an Apple computer - I've never used one before but was required to make the switch for school. I love it! No problems whatsoever getting everything all set up :) However, I would recommend that if you buy this particular model, turn the brightness down to below 50% or you'll go blind within a few days.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
This was a PC replacement. I got tired of my knee hitting my PC tower. Pro: Great build quality of course. Aluminum and glass is hard to beat. The 27" IPS screen matched with specs on this computer, at this price point I bought this system is hard to beat. Dell is the only one making a monitor at this size and quality. The monitor itself is [$]. If you look at similar spec'ed PC all in one you would pay $200-$300 more. I wasn't missing much buying last year's model. Thunder Bolt was not a deal breaker, especially for $500. I send half my time in OSX and the other in Win 7(boot camp). As great as OSX half the games I play are not available on OSX.Windows index for the 5770 GPU is 7.1 New Heaven benchmark without tessalation is 23 FPS @ full res.CON:The baby keyboard. I just can't get use to it. The might mouse slow tracking. I ended up getting the new track pad, which I think is a must if you upgrade to Lion (10.7).It's hot. The heat coming from the top of this unit could raise the room temp by a few degrees.

This is a computer for work, and it is a fantastic computer. My 1st Mac, and I'll never go back to a PC. Some say the screen is too big, I say bigger is always better. I was able to get the free upgrade through Apple for Lion OS X. I added the Magic Track Pad, and it is well worth the price! Literally took 30 seconds to set up. Set the monitor on my desk and plugged in the power cord. That's it. Highly recommend!

I wanted to buy myself a graduation present and although I wasn't expecting to spend this much, I couldn't pass up such a great deal. I was impressed with the savings offered by way of the clearance price, [...] I saved a bundle!I use the computer at home for hobby painting with a tablet and light gaming. It has an amazing display, is incredibly fast and BIG!! I haven't had a problem with it- absolutely no complaints, exactly as stated and I'm even more pleased than I thought I'd be.
