I run a 2x3.0 gHz (8 Core) 16 gig Ram Mac Pro at work used mostly for visual effects, and editing and this system makes my work computer feel slow! I have taken a few projects home to test out the differences and I must say even if on paper the Mac Pro is a better comp this thing feels way snappier. I would recommend this computer to anyone from an entry level designer to a hard core VFX freelancer on a budget. You just can't beat the price for a sweet system with an amazing monitor included! With no eSATA port, and no provision for moving files > 32 GB to a Windows environment, I'm a little disappointed in my new iMac. I bought this with the intent of using it as a video editing and special effects system.
With customer requests for 4 years, it's tragic that Apple hasn't add eSATA to this box, since it just tkes a hole and a cable... literally, just one hole and one cable will add eSATA to this thing.
That won't solve the lack of Apple machine's ability to write data to an NTFS file system, but it sure would go a long way to improving the cludgy workaround needed to get a 34 GB file from Mac OS/X into a Windows 7 environment.
They allow you to INSTALL Windows on the machine, but not to move files to it.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
We replaced an early Duo Core iMac with this unit. I was very pleasantly surprised at how easy Apple has made it to transfer software and everything else to a new computer. We zipped this up to 12 GB memory and it really flies.

Super fast machine! I use this Imac for audio, video editing and photography. It is blazing fast and problem free. I run Pro Tools 9, Final Cut Pro and Adobe Photoshop etc. You wont have any faults with this machine when it comes to its performance. I just love the 27 inch Monitor, the graphics on it is Amazingly beautiful and crisp. If your looking for a real work horse this is it. Don't even hesitate or wonder if it can because it will. One thing you also can be sure of is, no one comes even close to B&H pricing [...] So what are you waiting for go pick up your Imac Now ! Its waiting for you.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
Well, I was wrong. I thought this computer was an i5 and although BH guaranteed me that it was an i7 I could not believe until I turned it on and saw the specs myself. You can't go wrong buying this system for less than $1,600 and the difference between this system and the 2011 model don't encourage me to spend $2,200 for it. I also bought 8GB of memory for [$] from BH and installed myself. The memory is great and it's a bargain compare to the memory Apple sells for $400.00. This is my first Apple computer and I'm really happy with it. This computer is beautiful and super fast. Great bargain, thanks BH!

Excellent machine! I use it for Video editing and photography. Is fast and trustable. The only thing I don't like about it is that it only has one firewire port and no e-sata port. Since I use multiple external drives (and the USB connections are two slow for video) I would really appreciate more firewire and e-sata ports.

Engineering use mostly, Labview & Minitab16 (using FUSION). Netflix Streaming movies, Office 2011 for Mac, iPhoto.
It's smoken fast and the setup on this iMac was the easiest (and fastest) I've ever used. It imaged my G5 disk in an hour and it opened just like my G5.
Couldn't be happier with the product.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
I use my new iMac (2.93g/2x2GB/1TB/5750/SD/27) for Photography, Graphic Design, Photo editing etc. I use a Mac Pro quad core with 16gb of ram at work. I loaded this up with 16gb and it blows the Mac Pro away. Mac Pro does not come remotely close to this beast. If you need a powerful computer, this is the one for you.[...]
