Olympus VN-7000 Digital Voice Recorder
The Olympus VN-7000 Digital Voice Recorder is a budget-friendly entry-level recorder. The VN-7000 has 2GB of flash memory which holds more than 1200 hours of uninterrupted audio (LP mode). In addition, the recorder also features 39 hours of battery life when using 2 'AAA' alkaline batteries. Features such as Voice Activation, Index marks, and fast or slow playback modes provide helpful recording and playback options.

It is good looking. But the instructions are not very clear, could be better, much better. The plasyback is awful, for there is much static tat was not there when recording. Instructions are so vague, I could not find how to get it to record automatically when sounds are heard, and to cut off when sounds stop. I had to manually press record, and manually stop the recording. Also, I could not fast forward just a little, for it would go to the end, nor just a little back, for it would go to the very beginning.

I love this little trooper. I keep it with me to use for random idea notes and song ideas, interviews, and conversational recording. It's user friendly and nice and compact. The only things I don't like are that it doesn't have a backlight, so in the dark you need another light to see the screen, and it peaks and distorts with louder noise. Other than that, it's awesome.
