Comments about Olympus WS-710M Digital Voice Recorder:
I use this in class stashing it in my shirt pocket and so far it works great! I was careful to buy the WS series since it works great with Linux since it just shows up as a flash drive and you don't need any special drivers. The radio reception isn't the best, but is tolerable for strongish stations. It is also very lightweight, I would prefer a little more heft, but the build quality seems great.
This is the first stand alone audio recorder I've had and it works great, go Olympus!

Comments about Olympus WS-710M Digital Voice Recorder:
Since this is my first digital voice recorder, I have nothing to compare it to. But in general the only good things about this model are the FM radio and the huge amount of recording you can do.
Sound quality is sketchy at best. Unless you've got the mic right up to your mouth, you'll sound a million miles away, and blend in way too well with ambient sounds.
Putting MP3s on this unit is easy, but the sound output is so low (tried with several headphones) it's certainly not something to use as an alternative to a standard MP3 player like the iPod or Zune (not that it's built for that anyway, but it would be nice to be able to HEAR the music you're playing).

Comments about Olympus WS-710M Digital Voice Recorder:
With the WS-710M, Olympus has once again proven themselves to be the leader in the digital recorder market. This model adds WAV and MP3 formats, FM radio, and a ton of storage along with microSD support. Their handy design (though I still long for a clip of some kind) and intuitive menu system make it a joy to use for everyday, everywhere recording. Though it can use (and charge) a rechargeable battery, I prefer an alkaline since it doesn't have the "air loss" that all rechargeables have, and I can be confident that the recorder will have juice even it if sits unused for a week or two, or longer.

Comments about Olympus WS-710M Digital Voice Recorder:
It's no LS-10/LS-11, but a does a reasonable job. LPCM (wav recording) is a nice touch.
Also comes in handy for file transport.
