There is excellent sound in this mini speaker. It does not distort when played at it's loudest.

Comments about Pyle Home Bass Expanding Rechargeable Mini Speaker (Red):
We use this speaker in the kitchen, connected to an Airport Express so that we can listen to iTunes remotely. For NPR in the morning, it's fine. For anything with any musical information, it's pretty terrible.
The best thing about this, in this configuration, is that it charges off the USB port on the Airport Express, so that it doesn't require a 2nd outlet.

Comments about Pyle Home Bass Expanding Rechargeable Mini Speaker (Red):
My laptop speakers dont have the volume to fully enjoy streaming media if you aren't right on top of the keyboard.
This little speaker is realy great on the road, if you want to hear your OWN music in a hotel, an office on the road, or anyother place you can take your ipod without having to carry bulky speakers and backup batteries.
The key feature is the clear sound with a rechargeable battery.
