Whether you're at home or on the go the Epson MovieMate 85HD Projector will take your viewing experience to new heights.
The 85HD is first of all a powerful 16:9 aspect ratio, multimedia projector which implements 3LCD Technology for dynamic color and contrast, backed by 2,500 lumens of light output; but that's just the beginning. More than a projector, the MovieMate 85HD is a portable entertainment center incorporating a DVD player and built-in stereo audio system which handles movies, audio and video devices, karaoke and gaming consoles.
While ideal for home installations due to its attractive compact profile, the MovieMate really comes into its own on the road or with friends. At 9.3 lbs you can just grab the convenient built-in handle and your choice of entertainment media, find an outlet and setup is complete. The short throw lens is capable of projecting an image 8x larger than a 40" TV, and even if the venue is space-challenged you can display a 60" wide screen image from only 6 feet away. That means you can screen your favorite content whether it's a post-game party or a presentation.
The integrated multi-format DVD / CD player supports MP3, WMA and MPEG playback, while built-in Dolby Digital and DTS audio decoders are capable of reproducing surround sound fidelity and sonic realism from your favorite movie soundtracks. Alternately, you can load up a jump drive with your favorite photos and give JPEG slideshows via the USB host port.
The MovieMate 85HD has the fine points covered too. Wide connectivity including HDMI, keystone correction and a 1.35x digital zoom lens are all on board. The cost-efficient E-TORL lamp lasts up to 5,000 hours in Eco mode and runs at a barely-audible 28dB. More than a projector, The MovieMate 85HD is a traveling entertainment hub. It's safe to say that the MovieMate 85HD brings a lot to the table.

Comments about Epson MovieMate 85HD Projector:
I'm an artist who often uses video, either on its own or in an installation. I really like this projector because it can be as simple or as complicated as you want. If you want to do something rough, everything is contained in one piece of equipment, one cord to plug in, and you're ready to go (also, just one piece of equipment to lock down, if you are worried about theft). But, if you want to project HD, you can hook up a media player or laptop easily, or, if you want better sound, hooking up better speakers is an option. The one thing I was worried about was the fact that I couldn't adjust color/contrast settings, but, honestly, it really hasn't been a problem, the images always look great. I was particularly happy with how it performed in gallery situations where its not absolutely dark. The only drawback is that it can't be ceiling mounted, maybe one day someone will make the perfect projector, but, until then, this one is great.

Just opened the box and used at a labor day party.

Comments about Epson MovieMate 85HD Projector:
I really like the picture and the ease of portability. The sound is great, although ideally i would like to hook up an amp and 5.1 speakers to it - but that's the next purchase.
Unfortunately, to get a large picture in my lounge room I have to place the projector behind me which means of course the sound comes from behind also. It's not actually that bad but still, hooking up to an amp as i said would be ideal.
Also, it says it plays mp4 from USB but it hasn't read any mp4's i've put in it so far. It does however play AVI/divx from USB which I prefer anyway. I've hooked it up to a WD media player via HDMI so I can play any file type from it's own USB port or wirelessly from my computer.
I can't compare it to other movie projectors as i only have experience with sub $1000 multimedia projectors at work, but I'm very happy with it and can't imagine ever watching a movie on a tv again.

Comments about Epson MovieMate 85HD Projector:
I was considering buying an expensive home theater projector (thousands of dollars), then decided to test out a less expensive approach. I'm very impressed. It's a very well thought out package. Easily portable, instant set up for Family room or back-yard movies. Capable of producing very large images. Has a good complement of inputs and outputs. Not 1080p, but picture quality seems to be very good. Family loves it! Only complaint is that the remote has keys that are luminescent rather than backlit, so they're not so easy to see in the dark.

Comments about Epson MovieMate 85HD Projector:
I'm quite an avid home theater enthusiast, but was looking for something simple for the screened porch. This MovieMate did the trick. Picture is great, set up is easy and sound is decent. If you're looking for state of the art home theater equipment, this isn't for you. But if you're looking for some fun and a great price, this does the trick. And does it extremely well.

Comments about Epson MovieMate 85HD Projector:
Easily portable in protective casing by sturdy handle.
Fast and easy setup: plug in, insert dvd, a few seconds to warm up, and you are watching the movie.
Excellent image on a large screen.
Great sound from built-in speakers.
I first used it to show a documentary to a large audience.
It took only a few seconds to adjust the image to the screen, and then the focus.
Then I just sat back and enjoyed the movie without another thought about it.
Well worth the price!

Comments about Epson MovieMate 85HD Projector:
85HD does everything as promised. And its great fun! Absolutely incredible. However, the first unit I brought had problems recognizing usb devices. Even Epson customer service folks misled me into thinking that the problem was with the flash drive size.[...] exchanged it for another one, and this one works great with all flash drives. It plays most popular movie formats, including AVI files. Contrast is fine. Works even in brightly lit environment. The Audio quality is marvelous. The remote is useful for every purpose except for JPEG/slides presentations. Overall, it is the best projector in the price range.

Easy to use, Easy Set up, Great Picture, Good Sound... wish we would of gotten this years ago instead of our TV's.. this is great, now our tv's go unused. This even looks good on an evenly painted wall, ours was a tan color, because it is projecting white light, white is white!! Just love this!! A+++ You wont regret it! We get it to fill our entire wall, top to bottom, looks great.
