Comments about Raynox DCR-1541PRO High Definition Telephoto Conversion Lens (1.54x):
I use this lens with a Fuji hs20 ear and a Canon sx30is.
The resolution on this lens is 340 lines/mm. This far exceeds the resolution of any camera sensor I know of and is unlikely to cause any noticable loss of sharpness on even the finest equipment.
This type of lens is intended primarilly for one function. When attached to a zoom lens at max telephoto, or a prime telephoto,it will bring distant objects closer. There will be no light loss. The minimum focas disitance will increase by about 2.5x and the depth of field will decrease. This it does to perfection.
These limitations are not flaws, they are the way this type of lens is supposed to work.
I have worked around some of the limitations with very good results, but these methods are awkward and I do not necessarily reccomend trying them.
Adding a .5 or .25 dioptor close up filter will result in a super tele macro with that focuses at 2 meters or 4 meters respectively. The depth of field will decrease and there will be gaps in the focusing range. These partial dioptors are hard to find, I bought mine a long time ago and haven't seen them around recently.
I also have a Raynox dcr2025pro 2.2x . This an excellent lens but the 1.54x is a better lens. Using a 67 to 62 mm step down ring I put the 2.2x in front of the 1.54x and put this on my Fuji. The result was surprisingly good. The lens was equivalent to about a 2300mm on a 35mm. There was a slight softening but overall the image was really good. This arrangement was rather bulky, and I would be extremely carefull handling it.
I reccomend a tripod and a remote shutter release if you're camera takes on as extreme telephoto lenses are difficult to hand hold.
This lens does not come with a shade, otherwise I would give it 6 stars instead of 5. Make sure you have the correct adaptor for your camera.
The barrel is partly plastic. This reduces weight and cost. I applaud raynox for this, I would rather pay for superb optics than a chunk of metal.

Put to use on our JVC GY-HM100Us. Zoom-through is clear from 3x to 10x. Color, auto-focus, and WB work as normal. Very light weight, well made.
