The Sanyo VPC-CA102 Dual Camera Xacti is a waterproof camera that works equally as well on land, while touting numerous features and functions. Sporting bright yellow and a comfortable pistol-grip design the CA102 is easy-to-hold and easy-to-operate both under the surface and on dry land for shooting 1920 x 1080i HD video and digital still images. And whether you're recording or reviewing your footage the camera's 2.7" LCD flips out from the camera and tilts for optimum viewing.
When it comes to shooting features, the CA102 has a number of them. Aiding in your recording is 12x Dual Range Zoom for video and 5x optical zoom for taking photos. Digital image stabilization, Face Detection, and High Speed Sequential Shooting all come in handy as well. The VPC-CA102 records MPEG4 AVC/H.264 files to SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards, including Eye-Fi cards making for easy transfer to your computer for editing, sharing, or archiving. When you're ready to share your memories on the big screen the camera's HDMI mini connection allows for one-cable transmission to your HDTV.
Using a proprietary Sanyo algorithm, the CA102 automatically compensates for distracting up-and-down or side-to-side camera movement, keeping the subject steady and easy to follow. It accurately distinguishes between unintentional camera shake and deliberate camera movement. This handy feature operates in both wide-angle and telephoto modes
To accomplish the complexity of encoding AVC/H.264 in real-time on the CA102, a dedicated H.264 video compression IC was incorporated into the camera that was designed specifically for portable consumer devices. This achieves high video quality while simultaneously reducing the system power consumption.

Comments about Sanyo VPC-CA102 Dual Camera Xacti:
This is the first camera I have had of the pistol-style. It still takes two hands to keep it steady. The buttons are very small to switch to other modes. It is almost impossible to operate with gloves on. To record video or take a still, you use your thumb, but you have to be careful. I still haven't figured out how to use the sequential photo mode. It is not explained in the book. I plan on taking it camping and canoeing.

Comments about Sanyo VPC-CA102 Dual Camera Xacti:
In fact, even very good, but actually with reservations!
1. The camera is very compact - you can safely carry in your pocket and do not always think that it rests on you in the ribs.
2. Pistol grip was much more convenient to the traditional one.
3. Electronic stabilizer is bad, as expected.
4. In low light (in the apartment when incandescent lamps are not very strong) noise quite simply catastrophic.
5. Quality video on your big screen TV is really better compared to mini dv.
6. I fell with her in the snow works fine!
7. Very handy inclusion - has opened the display is active, closed - fell asleep.
8. The battery will last the whole day riding in the cold - 25 ° C in the bosom of sleep mode and 15 minutes of shooting with no apparent reduction of battery capacity.
9. With the quality of the photo should understand, it came out - disgusting ..... I hope that those settings are not set.
10. In good light automatic white balance works well when bad is bad ..... is preset snow tubes are different and some more on the white sheet is not.
11. Zoom 5-x is not something that is not enough, but I got used to the 15-x

Comments about Sanyo VPC-CA102 Dual Camera Xacti:
I went camping with this camera. Jumped off cliffs into the river with this camera. Recorded some nice footage. I agree that it is not the best for low light but being able to carry it around almost everywhere, specially on trips, makes it worthwhile. I highly recommend getting the wrist strap if you plan on going to the beach/river with this camera. Also get spare batteries because battery life with the included one will only last you about 40minutes of continuos shooting.

Comments about Sanyo VPC-CA102 Dual Camera Xacti:
Great Camcorder for good light scenaries. Not so good low light performance. Altough still not used underwater, this was the first reason I bought it. Same specification of CG-102 but due to underwater spec, more expensive.

Comments about Sanyo VPC-CA102 Dual Camera Xacti:
I live on the beach in SF. The constant micro-salt and sand spray has ruined a couple of pieces of equipment. Now I shoot stills with a Pentax SLR moisture/dust proof K-7 with the standard lens of the same weatherproof qualities.
I still needed a video camera and I like the VPC design - fits well in pocket or bag, never gets screwed up by dust or lint in camera bags or on site.
How I use it: Straight auto mode for scene selection, quick select buttons set for exposure adjustment and flash on/off. Leave it in standby mode (simply shut the side cover) and as I walk through nature take it out, open the side flap, and she is running and ready for stills or video very quickly. I shoot HD full res 30 f/s and then edit it down to 400 px wide for web publishing using FC Studio 3.
Must haves for this camera: 1> The fastest memory chip you can buy, 2> Manfrotto 680B Compact Monopod, 3> Manfrotto 324RC2 Joystick Head 4> SDHC card Class 10 Speed Rating 163x 24MB/s for shooting 60 frame 1080 video.
I am happy with my purchase and this camera and tripod travel with me day to day.
