View Similar ItemsThe Photoshop CS5 Extended Image Editing Software from Adobe adds 3D rendering and animation support to the industry-standard photo editing application. The software, compatible with Mac operating systems, gives you all the tools necessary to edit digital images, create 3D objects, and create breathtaking 3D animated movies.
Photoshop's 3D tools will let you create artwork for logos, buttons, and web graphics. You'll be able to warp graphics and extrude objects to suit your needs. You can add a 3D object to any image, moving it to suit your needs. When working with 3D animations, you can move objects, cameras, lights, and meshes along any axis.
Photoshop uses a powerful layer-based approach for image editing. Using layers allows you to make adjustments to images without modifying aspects of an original. You can modify layer opacity and order, aiding in compositing tasks. Photoshop keeps track of each change you make to an image, allowing you to undo actions with ease.
Photographers will appreciate Photoshop's robust photographic toolset and tight integration with Adobe's Photoshop Lightroom application. You'll be able to adjust image curves, remove noise from digital photographs, simulate film grain, add vignettes, and sharpen images. The software can open all types of images captured by digital cameras, including RAW images.
You'll also be able to correct lens distortions and image perspective. This is a powerful tool for architectural photographers who need to remove keystone effects from images and anyone shooting with ultra-wide angle rectilinear of fisheye lenses who would like to remove distortions.
Photoshop also supports the creation of High Dynamic Range (HDR) images. It can create an HDR image from multiple images of different exposures. It can remove ghosting created by slight camera movement between exposures, and you'll be able to tone images via intuitive slider controls.
Creatives will appreciate the tight integration with Adobe InDesign and Illustrator. Photoshop features a number of artistic image filters that can dramatically transform images. You'll be able to simulate different canvas types and brush strokes to create digital paintings. You can warp or stretch graphics, or move elements in images using the Puppet Warp tool.
Designers will appreciate the ability to isolate parts of images. You can cut out a model from a background with ease for use in a brochure. Photoshop is intelligent enough to correctly select complex parts of an image, including hair. You can go the opposite way as well -- you can remove a subject or object from an image and use the Content-Aware Fill to fill in the background with ease.
It is not without reason that Photoshop has become a verb in popular culture today. It's common to hear about someone who has "Photoshopped" a picture. Photoshop is the premiere application for image editing; it is a tool that every professional photographer and designer should have available.

Comments about Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended Software for Mac (Student and Teacher Edition):
I don't need to talk about the features and functionality of the adobe photoshop. I need to explore all those features and start using them in my daily photography life though.
I was thinking that the price for CS5 would go down given the fact that CS6 is out in the market but it was not the case as of today.
I got the key in no time as I have used my collage / university email id

Comments about Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended Software for Mac (Student and Teacher Edition):
My review is based on the transition from Ps Elements 8 to CS5. My order arrived quickly. As a NYIP student, I will note that I had no problem proving my eligibility by simply scanning my student ID card and emailing to Adobe. They sent my official serial number within 24 hours of installing the trial version.I've not gotten to really tap into the power of CS5 yet, but everyone already knows how capable this program is. No need to repeat it. The reason I chose the Extended version was for the options to create slideshows, edit video, HDR Editing, and the new 3D options. My box came with a LR3 30 day Trial Disc, but I already own it.A major bonus is that I will receive a free upgrade to CS6. Check details here: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/upgrade-policy-product-announcement.htmlI was worried about compatibility with Lion and reviews I'd read online. I've had no crashes or trouble installing. My Software: Mac OSX Lion 10.7.3. 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3. NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB.CS5 is similar to Elements without all the bows and whistles of a consumer editing product. If you have Mastered Ps Elements and feel you have exhausted it's capabilities then it is time to move on to CS5 or current version. Especially, if you're familiar in using layers, masks, gradients, etc. You're definitely ready to advance and your learning curve should be low due to the fact that you already understand the basics. Many schools do not officially train students on how to use Photoshop. Those students are probably wondering how steep is the learning curve really? Here's the truth I've learned based on my PS Elements 8 vs CS5 experience. There are 3 Modes for the Photoshop Elements User: 1. Edit FULL 2. Edit QUICK 3. Edit GUIDED If you spend 95% of your time in PSE FULL Mode and design nearly everything from "scratch" then you are ready and will have a low learning curve in CS5. From the knowledge you've already accumulated it will be easy to find the tutorial you need when you need it. The reason is because you know what you're looking for. There is a plethora of free knowledge available on Adobe TV and elsewhere. For the PSE user that has never moved beyond the Quick and Guided Modes: The CS5 learning curve will be much higher. Not because you don't know how to look up tutorials, but since most of what you learn in an advanced tutorial is going to send you right back to square one. No matter where you start you still need to understand the basics of editing. If you decide to skip Elements and go straight to CS5 my advice is to view the Adobe Help menu and choose the Adobe TV Tutorials and watch them starting from the beginning. (They're generally listed from beginner to advanced.) You could also take a class or buy a book that teaches you the basics. Otherwise you will be completely lost. If your school offers a Photoshop course, take it. It really will save a lot of time in the long run rather than teaching yourself.

I'm pretty sure I can't say much about a product as pervasive and mature as Photoshop that hasn't been written or said many times over. I'll limit myself to commenting on how it takes a long time and a lot of work to learn to use this product up to its potential. But the depth of its capabilities makes it worth the effort.

I purchased this product to replace CS2 that I had on my previous computer when it crashed. It is much improved from earlier versions yet very easy to maneuver. I am teaching my 10 year old son the basics of photo editing as he has shown an interest in photography. We are very excited to use this program.

Comments about Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended Software for Mac (Student and Teacher Edition):
I'm currently in school for photography and having Photoshop is essential. The discounted price that Adobe offers to teachers and students such as myself helps with obtaining the product. Once you get the hang of how things operate, the program works like a charm. Is there a downside? So far, not that I have encountered.
And an extra shout out to B&H for delivering it to me with their usual lightning speed. I love you guys!

I use photoshop for school projects - it adds an artistic element to otherwise mechanical drawings (I'm an engineering major) so this lets me showcase my designs in a whole new way. It's very user friendly and easy to learn, though there are so many things you can do with it I haven't had the time to familiarize myself with all of it's applications as of yet. So far I love it!

Comments about Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended Software for Mac (Student and Teacher Edition):
I'll admit that I primarily use Aperture for my organizing and Raw processing, but Photoshop CS5 provides me with some extra horsepower when dealing with tricky images or when I want to perfect portraits. There is a wealth of information and resources out there, and plenty of free plugins to help you get started. It runs great on my 2011 15" MacBook Pro, even with the standard 4GB Ram. I'd recommend this to anyone who feels they are outgrowing Lightroom/Aperture/iPhoto.
