Comments about Voigtlander 90mm F/3.5 SL II APO-Lanthar Lens for Nikon (Black):
Not that I needed another close up lens but having long wanted this one; I will use it on both my Nikons and via adapter on the new Fuji X PRO 1 where it has already exceeded my expectations. This is a well built, sharp keeper. Nikon and Canon Close Up Lens are easily mounted for serious macro work.

Comments about Voigtlander 90mm F/3.5 SL II APO-Lanthar Lens for Nikon (Black):
I use this lens on a Nikon D700. The color and clarity are first rate. This lens rivals Zeiss and Nikon's best lenses. Lovely bokeh and superb image quality. Well constructed.... has a feel of quality. Smooth focus. This is my second Voightlander lens, I also have the 40mm. I definitely plan to buy the 20mm and the 58mm as well.

Comments about Voigtlander 90mm F/3.5 SL II APO-Lanthar Lens for Nikon (Black):
I have been trying to reduce the amount and size of the equipment that I carry. It has gotten to be a real hassle to travel with a D700 and 7 lenses. I purchased the Voigtlander 40mm and liked it so much it replaced my 35 and 50. So the next step was this 90mm. It has now replaced my 85 and 105.
This lens is a pleasure to use. The manual focus is so smooth and fast! It is much easier to focus than the 105 f2.5 AIS that I was using. It is a different image look than the 105 but it is very nice. The images are very sharp and the color is nicely saturated. It is not as fast as the larger 85 f1.8 but I rarely used that lens at 1.8 anyways.
Needless to say this lens is a keeper. It focuses very close and the included close up filter is just an added bonus. Even thought the 105 2.5 AIS is a small lens, this 90 is smaller and feels a little lighter. I prefer to manual focus all my shots so it was no problem replacing the 85 1.8 with this.
I am very happy with this lens and the 40. So much so that I have also purchased the 20mm Color Skopar.
Now I have a very small travel kit. I can carry my camera and put the other two lenses in my pockets or a small belt pouch. All three lenses take 52mm filters so I only need to carry 1 filter size. I can hold two lenses in one hand easily, they are so small!
This completes a perfect kit for me. I now have the 20, 40 and 90. I don't need anything else.

Comments about Voigtlander 90mm F/3.5 SL II APO-Lanthar Lens for Nikon (Black):
I was looking for a smaller portrait lens that was easy to travel with. I have enjoyed using the Voigtlander 20mm and 40mm lenses, so I thought I give this one a try. This lens is built like a tank. All metal, and a super smooth manual focus ring. Not the fastest portrait lens, but if your using a D3S it doesn't matter. Lens comes with a secondary lens attachment that allows for closer shots. Not quite macro, but results are decent enough. Voigtlander lenses have given me a different color feel. One that I personally like. I haven't experienced any softness with the lens, or vignetting. I really like the way these lenses work. If you like film, or manual focusing, these lenses are for you. They do not autofocus, but I find when I use this lens it slows me down and makes me think a lot more about the picture in front of me.

Comments about Voigtlander 90mm F/3.5 SL II APO-Lanthar Lens for Nikon (Black):
The Voigtlander 90mm is a different shooting experience. The lens is strictly manual focus, but the focusing ring is very smooth, and easy to focus in on your subject. The lens is extremely well built. Like a tank of a lens. It has almost the same heft as Nikon's newest 85mm f/1.4 G AFS lens. The 3.5 is not the fastest lens in this category, but can still be used in all types of lighting conditions, especially if you're shooting with a D700 or D3S. The lens comes with a so called macro capability, though its not a true 1:1 macro. The macro aspect of this lens is achieved by using the supplied close up lens that comes with this lens. Personally I like the bokeh this lens delivers, and the color it achieves in its images. This is my third Voigtlander manual focus lens, and its helped trimmed down my travel bag quite a bit. Shooting manually slows you down, but it also makes you think about your photography a lot more. If you enjoyed shooting film from the past, and like prime lens, then I highly recommend this lens, or for that matter any of the other prime choices from Voigtlander.
