The Zi10 PlayTouch Video Camera (Chrome) is a sleek HD pocket camcorder from the grand-daddy of photographic imaging, Kodak. Like all camcorders in the genre, the PlayTouch features a compact form-factor. Being this small, pocket cams generally don't have room for larger, touch screen LCDs. Not so with the PlayTouch. Kodak gave this camera a 3" touch screen LCD that allows for viewing in portrait or landscape.
In addition to its 1920 x 1080 HD video and 5.3MP digital still capture, the features of the PlayTouch set it apart from the pack. Digital image stabilization, HDMI and A/V outputs, and a microphone and headphone connection are all rarely seen features in the world of pocket camcorders. Other useful functions, such as 4x digital zoom, a built-in USB connection, and a built-in rechargeable battery aid in recording as well.
When it's time to edit and share what you've shot, the PlayTouch allows for playback and review on its generous 3" LCD. You can also easily share your memories when connected to your PC or Mac with the built-in USB connection. The built-in ARCSOFT MEDIA IMPRESSION software helps edit and share with PCs, while Mac users can edit and share using MPEG4 compatible editing programs.

I ordered 12 of these for use in a high school video art class because they had an external microphone input. When I plugged in the external mic and hit record the levels dropped to almost inaudible quality. When using the built in gain, you could see that the hardware was working, then when you pressed record a glitch in the software caused the external mic not to work. This happened with all 12 cameras so I was forced to return them. Kodak said that they would have to be shipped to them for 30 days which would not work as my class had to continue.
This seemed to be the ideal and affordable camera, but it could not deliver on the external microphone.

This was a gift for my daughter. She hasn't had it that long as she received it for Christmas. Its been used a few times but I haven't seen any clips from the camcorder yet.
