Comments about Apple ATI Radeon HD 5870 Graphics Upgrade Kit for Mac Pro (Mid 2010 or Early 2009):
Definitely an upgrade from the standard card offered for the Early-2009 Mac Pro. Very smooth installation and substantial speed increase. I bought it to use Final Cut Pro X more effectively, and it succeeds. Prices for this model are a bit higher (everywhere) than they should be given that the card is older. But they're not so high as to be prohibitive. After all, there aren't a lot of choices beyond this one, unless you open the door to faster cards and start zapping the PRAM or ROM or whatever it is on PC-marketed cards. You won't waste your money if you buy this one.

Comments about Apple ATI Radeon HD 5870 Graphics Upgrade Kit for Mac Pro (Mid 2010 or Early 2009):
The ATI Radeon HD 5870 really speeds up the graphics redraws on the monitor substantially, over the High end Nvidia Card that came with my "3.1" Mac Pro. Installation was easy and the results better than expected. Well worth the money.

Comments about Apple ATI Radeon HD 5870 Graphics Upgrade Kit for Mac Pro (Mid 2010 or Early 2009):
I have a 2008 Mac Pro Workstation with 16 gigs of dual channel RAM and three hard drives.
Although I had a pretty high end main graphics card before this one, it was not an Open CL card. I am running Final Cut Pro X for video editing and had to upgrade my card as it was not open CL and would not work right with Final Cut.
This HD 5870 card is beyond amazing!! Definitely speeded up the full HD 1080P videos that I am shooting.
I am loving the card!!

Comments about Apple ATI Radeon HD 5870 Graphics Upgrade Kit for Mac Pro (Mid 2010 or Early 2009):
I needed to upgrade my video card after I began using Final Cut Pro X. The stock Nvida video card that came with my Mac Pro simply could not do the job. Every frame would stutter or stop and start erratically while editing in Final Cut Pro. With the combination of the ATI Radeon HD 5870 and 16GB or RAM, all of my troubles went away and I'm now comfortably editing video with ease. Thank you.

Used to power Apple LED Cinema Display (27" flat panel). Had to upgrade as the old video card was incompatible with the new display. Easy to install and much quicker than the old outdated card.

When I purchased my 2010 Mac Pro it came with the ATI Radeon 5770 video card, being a professional videographer everything I read about the 5870 said get it for extra rendering power. On the Mac Pro I run Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit OS on the Boot Camp side of the Mac, I have Microsoft Flight Simulator X Deluxe Edition and with the Macs processing power and the ATI Radeon 5870 Video Card I can run the flight sim at full resolution on every quadrant of the program and listen to iTunes at the same time . . . in my spare time!

Comments about Apple ATI Radeon HD 5870 Graphics Upgrade Kit for Mac Pro (Mid 2010 or Early 2009):
Extremely powerful video card. I upgraded from a ATI 4870 on a 2009 Mac Pro and my Flight SIM looks even better. This is one powerful card. I just wish Apple didn't put such a ridiculous price premium on these cards. The Windows version is way cheaper.
