I was looking to replace an HP All-in-One C6380, which the paper feed broke on the printer. HP tried to shill me into returning that printer and spending $200 on another. Seeing the scam, I started shopping...and came across this well-received Epson Artisan 835. The price from B&H was too good to pass up. [...] The setup was the easiest of any printer I have ever installed. Even both my daughters had zero problems installing this wireless printer to their laptops and had access within a few minutes. The LCD display is very intuitive, yet very simple. My wife commented on the ease of use, and for a non-computer person, that is a high compliment. Print speed was very good in my view, especially because I didn't have the usual "HP gyrations" waiting for the printer to spin up. The document feed works like a charm, and in fact is a huge convenience for my consulting work. The scanning function was easy as well, and was VERY simple and intuitive from the front LCD panel. I checked into ink cartridge prices prior to purchase, and like the cost per page. As I have only used this printer a couple of weeks, I really haven't discovered any cons. Based on the excellent print quality, the ease of use and simple set-up, I give this printer five out of five.

I'm not sure if it's fair for me to rate this printer now, as I've used it for less than two weeks. But since you asked: I very much like the sleek design and low profile. And the ability to cover/close the paper feed is a bonus. The duplexer works great; MUCH better and faster than my HP6500A PLUS did. The black print quality is worse than I expected. Acceptable, I guess, but just barely. It is fast though, I'll give it that. I've printed one 4 x 6" full color photo, which I feel was exceptionally good quality. (I mean REALLY good!) I've also printed one 8 x 10" photo, which was NOT acceptable. I got the vertical lines that many others complained about. As someone else mentioned, this printer is loud. I don't know how else to say it. Its "printer noises" are just much louder than any other printer I've ever had. I LOVE the LED screen. Again, this is SO much better than the HP. It's easy to read and use. Set-up was a little harder than any HP's I've ever had. They leave out a few details from their instructions, but had I paid closer attention to the printer I was replacing, I wouldn't have had any trouble. (Just yesterday I got incoming faxes to work. I had no problem with outgoing. I forgot to attach the phone line from my answering machine, (duh) but was only able to figure this out by getting online, for about the fourth time). I've had it running both wired and wirelessly, and the initial setup both ways was easy. I can't accurately comment on ink usage yet, although it seems like I'm burning through black ink pretty quickly. I do realize that printers probably need to prime themselves. I agree with everybody else who complained about the flimsy, and small capacity paper tray. I have mine wide open, (set on legal), but am using letter size paper. This allows me to easily shove more paper in when needed, instead of taking the cheap and annoying tray out completely. Other than the tray, the overall build quality seems good, probably better than I expected. If it holds up for two or more years, I'll buy another Epson, even though I'm very disappointed with the print quality of the 8 x 10" full color photo. Perhaps the next time I print in color it will be better. I hope so! If you are comparing brands, I like the 835 WAY better than my HP 6500A PLUS, which I didn't like at all, and only tolerated for a few months. I did very much like my (plain ole) HP6500 however, and would have purchased another, had that model still been available.

Comments about Epson Artisan 835 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer:
I bought this printer because the one I do greeting cards on quit working and I decided to get an all in one that would have good quality prints for greeting cards At first, when using a good quality card paper I got black ink streaks in the same place almost ever time ( sometimes worse than others). After I decided not to waste any more paper and ink, I called tech support, I had trouble understanding the tech guy,( what a suprise) and finaly he told me that model was not compatable with card paper. It says right on the box GREETING CARDS. Then I decided to give it another try. I found a setting for thicker paper, that got rid of the ink streaks but still wouldn't feed the paper without an error message. Then I just gave up. I hesitate to give this printer a real bad rating because plain paper seemed to do OK. I never tried photo paper or the print on cd. the fax worked. It may be just this machine has a problem and not every one of them.

This is my default printer, but I primarily use it for graphics for my hobbies. The images are sharp, clear and the color's good. I'm a little concerned about the durability of the CD tray, but it loads easily and works flawlessly. I'm very satisfied.

I was sick of the HP we had for home use, not because of the printer itself but because HP would not leave us alone. Constantly updating, asking for survey's, and the ink being out dated and etc.
My Son has an Epson and he loves it. He said that I would not have constant ubdates and surveys from Epson, and the Epson printer peformed better than HP. So far he is right. We love our Epson.

So far I've used this just to do minor print jobs, but from what I've seen so far, I need to buy photo paper! This printer does an awesome job and at the sale price B&H had it as, it's a steal! I also bought the CISS for it. This is probably the best printer I've ever had.

I bought this Epson Artisan 835 from B&H 4 months ago and it has been nothing but a disappointment. It prints horribly. The wireless is very confusing to set up. It eats ink like the cookie monster eats cookies! The feed always, always, always jams!!! The quality of the printing is just terrible. It has NO positives. NONE!

Quick and easy set up. Output quality has been better than I expected.
My first experience with CD printing feature and it was quick, simple and excellent.
Knew about the need for a USB cable but may have forgotten to include it, if not for the good folks at B & H reminding me - Thanks again.
I will be able to concentrate more on project creation as output seems to be well in hand.

I need a printer that reproduces high quality images but serves as a small office printer as well. I reviewed many then asked for chat help at B&H. Your rep recommended the Artisan 835 and said it should suit my needs perfectly. He was right.
I am an amateur photographer and I print and share many images. The printing quality of this unit is excellent...bright, clear, clean. I have not seen a better reproduction. Ink usage is also low and it operates quickly, quietly and wirelessly.
This printer suits my needs perfectly. I am very pleased with Epson and B&H as well. Thank you for the online assistance.

Broke three months after warranty expired. Told it was a hardware problem. Control panel issue. Bought it for DVD printing, which was good. Don't try to use replacement ink...rejected it. Also a big ink hog. Other than that, it was ok. Make sure you get an extended warranty through Square Trade or you will be out of luck.

Had a HP 6500 plus that lasted only fourteen months. Replaced that in December 2011 with a HP8500A Plus and after two months the control panel would not work, called and HP had me do a flash upgrade. Printer controls shut down three more times in less than two weeks and finally agreed to send me a replacement but returned it instead. I researched other brands and got the older model 835 and it came with better software and has been a pleasure to have on line 24/7 without any problems thou have had only about six weeks. Ordered and had in three days, great delivery from B+H.

Comments about Epson Artisan 835 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer:
It requires too much technical help from a toll number and too many people working who don't understand the product and are not very patient with the customer. The "how to" notes are not well done nor easy to understand. But once you spend the day playing around and calling for help, the end result is a fine machine that gives good color reproduction and works wonderfully as a Wireless.
It requires a fairly large space. Has a great looking and functioning HUD but you need material it does not advise you of upon purchase nor in the operator manual. VIZ., a special disc for copying pictures on DVDs and there is almost no explaining how to operate this part of the machine on DVD's.
