The Mac Pro Desktop Computer Workstation from Apple is the company's premiere desktop workstation. The system is built with performance in mind, and is an ideal computer for use with demanding applications. The computer is housed in a striking tower form factor, highlighted by a silver front grille which provides easy access to USB 2.0 and FireWire-800 ports, as well as a headphone jack. Sturdy handles are present to aid in transporting the system when necessary.
Designed with expansion in mind, the computer features four 3.5" SATA drive bays, four PCI Express 2.0 expansion slots, and 8 RAM slots which can support a total 32GB memory capacity. The back of the system features a plethora of ports, including USB 2.0, FireWire-800, dual Gigabit Ethernet, and optical and analog audio.
The system is powered by two Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5620 "Westmere" CPUs running at a clockspeed of 2.4GHz. This "8-Core" configuration gives many more times the processing power of a single CPU, making it an ideal solution for mission critical applications. The system also boasts 8GB of RAM, a 1TB 7200rpm hard drive, Apple's SuperDrive DVD burner with dual-layer disc support, 802.11n Airport Extreme Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR for wireless device connectivity, and ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics with 1GB of memory.
The 64-bit OS features Time Machine backup, which automatically backs up system data to an external hard drive. It also features intuitive Cover Flow navigation, the powerful Spotlight search tool, and Quick Look document preview. You'll be able to use Boot Camp to run Windows on your Mac.
iLife '11 has a complete suite of digital creativity applications. Easy enough for anyone to use, iLife will help you edit your home movies, organize digital photos, and compose original music. The system is also powerful enough to run Apple's professional-level applications, perfect for those who are ready to move up to the next level of creative software.

Comments about Apple Mac Pro 8-Core Desktop Computer Workstation:
I own many Macs and do extensive research prior to making any major purchases, so I know what I'll be getting when I unpack it. The speed of the machine and the beauty of the Cinema Display is as expected. The real treat was in adding RAM and extra internal hard drives. The design of the machine makes it so nice. Took me literally longer to unbox the extra internal drive than it did to install it into the MacPro.Also, whisper quiet. Runs pretty cool (i.e., not hot) even with upgraded graphics card.B&H was great to deal with. Best price [...]

Comments about Apple Mac Pro 8-Core Desktop Computer Workstation:
This computer is really a very powerfull machine- I currently have 3 applications from adobe design premium, quickBooks and a remote desktop running windows open, and the machine doesn't even bat an eye! I have to admit that i have been taken in by the visual appeal that is so key to the mac world (the machine even started playing some chill grooves and started an imax like video of all the apple icons as soon as a hooked it up), but despite (or maybe because of :)) all the gimmicks, this thing works great!
I am also a big fan of the 'magic mouse, that came with it, works like a track mouse with a touchpad on the top which allowss you to scroll horizontally or flick through webpages or file levels with a single flick of the fingers. took me a while to get used to it, but now it works great, and actually helps me get stuff done much faster!

Comments about Apple Mac Pro 8-Core Desktop Computer Workstation:
I am a Final Cut Editor who is very satisfied with this product. I mainly use it at my work-horse computer. The video card is wonderful and the storage is exactly what I need. I decided not to upgrade to more storage as many of the projects I do will be on portable hard drives - so it's exactly what I need it to be. It's fast, efficient, and one of Apple's best.
