I'm not a professional photographer, however I ordered 5 filters all made by Tiffen (UV and Polarized) and I'm very pleased with them all! This particular filter screws on very easily, is very secure. The frame is small enough that you can add other filters on top (UV, Florescent, etc.) of this without having to remove this one. It also comes with a nice durable plastic case that I use for storing it when I remove this filter from my camera (haven't yet though).
In conclusion, I would recommend this filter!

This filter produced very odd and ugly bokeh artifacts in light areas with my Nikon D90 and a Tamron A005 70-300mm zoom at long focal lengths. They appear as parallel lines or corduroy. I found a couple of similar reports--with pics--online for other inexpensive UV filters in combination with a zoom (Nikon 70-300mm VR) or telephoto lens.

Comments about Tiffen 62mm UV Protector Filter:
I've had the Tiffen 62mm UV filter on my camera from day 1 because I read that it is important to protect your lens especially when you are spending a small fortune.
Somehow my camera bag feel out of the back of my truck and I really didn't think much of it. Padded bag, short fall. After taking a few pictures, I noticed some funny glare on the pictures. When I looked at the lens my filter had cracked in a "V" shape! Thank God I had the filter on my lens otherwise I would be purchasing a new lens.
I highly recommend this filter to have on your lens, always!! Get one for each lens you own.
One con is that when shooting at night with bright streets lights, you may need to remove the filter due to very minimal glare. Not enough to dock a star for!

I put this filter on my AF NIkkor 85mm f1.8/D lens. Immediately I noticed how clear it was, and easily screwed on the lens. This filter is sturdier than other UV filters I have used in the past.

I have this on a Sigma 30mm f1.4 for my Canon 7D. All in all not too much to say about it. It protects the lens glass and does it well. I haven't had any instances yet of flaring or ghosting with it. Construction seems good and the filter doesn't seem to effect the photos in any negative way.
