The 67mm UV Protector Filter from Tiffen is a wise initial investment. It can help protect your valuable investment from dust, moisture and scratches, which can lead to costly repairs. A UV filter not only minimizes the bluish cast sometimes found under daylight conditions, but is also the best available protection against accidental damage to the front element of your lens.
A UV filter is the best available protection for the front element of your lens. A lens that accidentally gets dropped on its front element while hiking can potentially be saved by purchasing this item. Some people refer to them as "cheap insurance".
Aside from that more-than-significant benefit, UV filters cut through some of the haze in the atmosphere rendering your photos clearer, sharper and more contrasty. For those who enjoy outdoor photography, especially distant vistas, a UV filter can produce a more distinct image by removing much of the blue tint normally associated with atmospheric haze.
A UV Protector is probably the most popular UV filter people use. As a lens protector, it should be left on at all times to guard against front element damage but also adds the benefit of rendering your images clearer.
Tiffen's ColorCore glass is produced through a process that entails permanently laminating the filter material in between two pieces of optical glass that are ground flat to tolerances of a ten-thousandth of an inch, then mounting them in precision aluminum rings.

The price of this filter is excellent. It is sturdy, durable, and provides excellent lens protection. The images produced with this filter and sharp and clear. The color remains nice and bold. This filter did and excellent job of diminishing the blue/purple cast that appears around some objects when the flash is used (in my case- white stone pear blooms.) It works well for outdoor and indoor shots. It is very well worth the price.

Filter is incompatible with my Nikkor 18-105 lens. I'm witnessing the same problem as this user describes:Today, I noticed a small dot right in the middle of my filter/lens. Tried lightly rubbing it off with a cleaning tissue and lens cloth. It didn't come off. So, I figured I'd remove the UV filter and go at it a bit harder. Once removed, I no longer saw it, so figured I must have overlooked my cleaning it off. Started screwing it back on, still free of the mark. But, as I reached the ends of the threads, sure enough it was there again. I looked closer; started slowly unscrewing again...and the small dot disappeared. Screwed it back on, it appeared. And then it clicked; the front lens element is convex, the filter is flat...it must be touching! How can tiffen design it this way? I feel like I can't use it as it seems like screwing it on, with this circular motion, is not good for the lens. Imagine if a bit of dust or something got in there as I was screwing it down. My $50 filter would destroy this [$] lens.other observations:- the center ends up blurry in the photos.- there is a pressure between the front element and the filter. eventually either the filter will crack or the front element will get dislodged. If your front element sticks out at least a little bit - do not get this.

Comments about Tiffen 67mm UV Protector Filter:
Saved my expensive lens after a fall. The protective value to your expensive lens is priceless. Will never use my D90 with any lens without it. And from a photo stdpt, has made a difference, albeit not terribly obvious for my amateur use.

Comments about Tiffen 67mm UV Protector Filter:
I always recomend a good UV filter, as it's a camera person's first line of defense against lens damage. I had this same lens equipped on my current lens, and the UV filter's glass cracked first - hence protecting my much more valuable lens from damage. My only complaint is that the lens didn't screw into my lens as easily as I'd like, but different results may vary by lens model...

Comments about Tiffen 67mm UV Protector Filter:
I got this filter to use as a protective cover on my costly 70-300mm VR lens.
At a glance it seems to be okay to use, but later I discovered that I get glares and reflections when photographing a bright source. When taking pictures of a normal source, most of the times, it comes out without any issues though
So overall this is good as a protective cover, but be careful when taking photographs.

Wouldn't take my camera out of my bag without a UV filter. Protects the surface of the lens and helps with lens flare. I have one on every lens!

I love this camera! There is so much to learn about it but it's already taking incredible photos of pets and scenery. There is a definite learning curve but all the time you invest in learning its ins and outs will definitely pay off!

I couldn't find any Uv protector filters under 50$ at my local stores. This one works perfectly, it looks solid and does what you are expecting from a uv protector filter.

Comments about Tiffen 67mm UV Protector Filter:
I have been using cheap discounter filters up until now, but after losing two of them because I banged my camera against something, I decided to change to better filters.
This one is a lot sturdier and seems to work perfectly fine. On the pictures you can't tell if the filter is off or on.
