Tiffen 77mm Photo Twin Pack (UV Protection and Circular Polarizing Filter)
The Tiffen 77mm Photo Twin Pack consists of a UV Protection filter and Circular Polarizer.
UV Protection Filters
UVHaze (UV) filters are wise initial investments. They help protect your valuable investment from dust, moisture and scratches, which can lead to costly repairs. If desired they can be left on the lens at all times for protection. Haze filters provide additional benefits of correction for Ultraviolet (UV) light which can register on film and videotape as a bluish cast and can obscure distant details. Ultraviolet filters allow you to correct for the UV effect to varying degrees. Haze-1 filters absorb approximately 71 percent of UV.
Circular Polarizers
Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.
Note! Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems and video cameras without problems)

Just got back from a Yosemite trip and had a chance to use these filters. The pola was great, it did just what it was supposed to. Glass was nice, rings were solid, threads were good. It also came with a nice Tiffen soft case for the pola filter, which was a unexpected bonus. It didn't come with one for the UV, but that's okay.
My only gripe is that sometimes it's a little difficult to get the pola off because the mounting ring is thin, but it's better than having be too easy I suppose.
I feel it was a good balance of price and quality

I got my shipment right before a vacation. When I opened it, the UV filter had a flaw to the outside edge. I never used or tested it as I already had one. This kit was cheaper than just getting the CPL filter alone. I still need to try to get the UV filter replaced.

The price was right for the twin pack and it came with a small pouch to hold the filters. The only down side is putting the circular polarizing filter on and off. I find it difficult to unscrew it off.

What I like about this product is that the two filters are stackable. So you can leave the UV filter on permanently, then attach the circular polarizer on top of that when needed.
Very happy with this pack. The filters are well built, and do what they are intended to do.
