The MOTIF XF6 features 61 keys and a host of improvements for enhanced performance on stage and in the recording studio. Yamaha's own AWM2 Expanded Articulation synthesis engine delivers 1664 voices and 97 drum kits, featuring authentic piano, keyboard, synth, orchestral, wind, string and drum sounds for all styles of music production.
The MOTIF's 16-track sampling sequencer delivers a flexible feature set for speedy recording whenever inspiration strikes. Up to 128MB of sampling RAM is included and direct-to-USB recording lets you bounce tracks to a computer as a WAV file. I tried this keyboard in the shop before ordering, but when it arrived it sounded even better. Very impressed by key action and quality of sounds. Fantastic and uncomparable to competitors in this price and probably higher.Reeason I'm giving 4 star are: Very poor instructions. They obvisoulsy assume it is upgrade to existing motif. There is no consideration towards new customers. Also, general lack of tutorials, documentation, videos etc. More focused on selling than educating 10:1.I wish there was a touch screen. These days that shouldn't be such a big problem. [...]

I recently purchased the MOTIF XF6 to replace 2 of my keyboards-the Original MOTIF6, and a MM6. This one keyboard has all the sounds on it most anyone would ever need, an onboard sequencer, onboard sampling, and thousands of arpeggiators. It also comes with custom Cubase software for computer based music production. The only reason I give it 4 out of 5 stars instead of 5 is that the single best improvement over the most recent pervious model is only available as an optional expansion-the Flash Board. With the flash board, samples, custom songs, sounds, & settings can reside inside the workstation. Futhermore, these flash boards can be removed from one XF and placed in another and all settings & sounds would be on the other XF. It would have been nice if there was a flash board that came with the unit as stock.
