This is the Perfect size. I run 2 IMacs off if it and had a power outage last week and it was able to run both of them for 12 mins. Which was enough time to Backup files and shut down.
Perfect solution. Great Battery Backup

Comments about APC Power-Saving Back-UPS Pro 1500:
I bought this unit to replace a 5 year old 1000 APC unit. I love it! It is quiet and does not generate the heat my old one did. I am going to replace my older 1500 unit with another one of these ... to save on energy and help keep my computer room cooler (AND QUIETER!) Also the older 1500 units are VERY heavy and awkward.. this is compact easy to move.

Comments about APC Power-Saving Back-UPS Pro 1500:
I bought it recently as a consequence of the high temperatures that was causing electrical problem by my area. My new computer was shutting down as a consequence of the consecutive blackouts. so i decided to buy this unit. now my z200 and my old xw4200 are safe. Two things it didn't come with the software cd, and when I turn it on sound weird around 2 seconds. I don't know if the sound is as part of the process this unit recognize the electrical or volts.

Did my research and found this unit at an exceptional B&H price. Solid performer, already saved my equipment 2x. Love the ability to see how many watts it is providing and the AVR, which is a must for anything worth plugging into a UPS.

Run a home based business and I'm able to hook up PC, Router, Modem, 2 printers, scanner and still have open outlets on the unit. Backup time once all items are connected is lower than advertised.

Comments about APC Power-Saving Back-UPS Pro 1500:
There are a number of advertising ruses foisted on the American consumer. One of the worst is the so called "surge protectors" sold in the big box stores that claim to actually protect your valuable electronics in the event of a power surge or lightening strike. Nothing could be further from the truth. When I have thousands of dollars tied up in my editing bay and thousands more riding on an editing project with an imminent deadline, the only product I trust is APC to accurately handle any sort of a power surge or power outage, while giving me enough time to safely close down my system without losing my project. I just added the UPS Pro 1500 to my new Mac Pro 8 Core editing bay for that very reason. It's the cheapest form of insurance to salvage your project . . . and your reputation.

B&H delivered again! Great product at the best price.
Unlike many reviews on the internet complaining of a loud fan noise my fan only runs when using the battery.
I called APC and they said the fan problem was fixed with a hardware upgrade. My unit was factory tested in Jan. of 2010. I Don't know if it was fixed before then or not? It sounds like a floor fan on high. (Not annoying)
I really like the LCD screen on the front. I can turn it on or off and flip through different live stats.
The UPS doesn't come with the CD but the management software is easily downloadable from APC.
I have mine connected to my editing/render computer (Intel Quad-core Nvidia graphics card 2+ TB of Hard drives). For light CPU and video usage I have 40+ min. of run time. During high power times I have 20-30. More than enough time to finish what I'm working on or start the generator.
The alarm settings are great. I can choose what hours of the day that I don't want it to sound. It also knows when the computer is off and won't sound unless you want it to.

APC is the best name in power. Cleans, conditions, and is healthy back-up. I have five monitors and two desktops plugged in to mine and i can go for 30 mins on battery alone.

Comments about APC Power-Saving Back-UPS Pro 1500:
I had the older version of this product (BR1500) which finally gave out on me after about 4-5 years of use. I was still able to use the external extended battery pack from the old unit with this one, which was a definite plus. The addition of the LCD to this model is another great feature. I can see in real time how many Watts my battery backed-up devices are consuming.
Note: The fan in this unit runs during trickle charging of the battery. This occurs any time the unit switches to battery, even through a self-test. The fan will kick on and run for about 3 hours. It is fairly noisy, but it will shut off and remain off until the next power interruption.
