The Sony NEX-VG10E Interchangeable Lens Handycam PAL Camcorder is the first-ever large sensor video camera, merging the rich colors, enhanced light sensitivity, and shallow depth-of-field of video DSLRs with the shape, size, and functionality of a camcorder. That means no more rigging out your video-enabled DSLR with accessories that cost twice as much as the camera--and no more funneling your video through the tiny sensors and fixed lenses of camcorders past.
Along with access to Sony's growing line of E-mount and already established A-mount lenses (using an optional adapter), the NEX-VG10E provides an APS HD CMOS sensor that measures over 19 times the size of a conventional camcorder's! This translates into a significant upgrade in pixel size and image quality, allowing you to record truly cinematic-looking video that gives you creative control over what's in focus and what's not. Whether shooting 1920 x 1080 video or 14.2MP stills, creative control is the order of the day--from manually adjusting iris, shutter speed, white balance and gain to finding the perfect lens to capture the world as you see it.
And if you need a little extra help keeping your images sharp and steady, the included 18-200mm OSS zoom (and its E-mount alternatives) is video-optimized to silently autofocus while providing optical image stabilization for potentially shaky shots. As on so many other camcorders, a bright, high-resolution 3" LCD screen swivels 180° for maximum viewing flexibility. (Try that on a 7D!) Further distinguishing the NEX-VG10E is an included Quad Capsule stereo microphone, which adds the precise, high-quality audio you'll need to match the lushness of your images. Headphone and external microphone jacks give you even more audio control.
Of course, once the video has been captured (to your choice of Memory Stick or SD/SDHC card), you'll want to show off what you've done. The NEX-VG10E's AVCHD video is fully compatible with all editing software and can be easily burned to Blu-ray disc for HD playback. To make things even easier, Sony is including a free download of its popular--and extremely versatile--Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10, giving you all the tools you'll need to shoot and share the kinds of images that were once only the province of the pros!
(High Definition AVCHD discs can be created using standard DVD media, the supplied software and a compatible PC. DVD media containing AVCHD footage may be played on a compatible Blu-ray Disc player/recorder, PC with supplied software or PlayStation3 devices. DVD media containing AVCHD footage should not be used with standard DVD based players, as the DVD player may fail to eject the media and may erase its contents without warning.)

Comments about Sony NEX-VG10E Interchangeable Lens Handycam Camcorder (PAL):
This camera on first glance looks professional, the low light quality is great, I don't like to zoom ring verses the easy zoom button. The battery lasts rather long. I wish it had audio input controls, it's nerve wrecking without it. I also wish it had xlr inputs off course,at that price it really should have some of the more 'pro features'But again the video is great

Comments about Sony NEX-VG10E Interchangeable Lens Handycam Camcorder (PAL):
Pros:
- small and neat easy to operate as long as you stay with all in auto
- good picture quality, colors, depth of field, sharpness
- of course the changable lenses
- the hybrid feature, takes great stills
Cons:
- unbalances with the SEL18200 original lens (front heavy and almost have to use both hands to get control)
- not as good in low light as my HDR-AX2000
- hard to operate in manual mode, using tiny buttons under the LCD flap, incl the wheel dial
- a little bit hard to find exact focus point, even when I use the viewer. would have liked auto focus with easy access lock button
- same for any need for quick adjustments e.g. backligth compensations, lock focus etc, almost useless as you need to fiddle with the menu wheel.
- no control of volume input (this can really ruin a take unless you have other audio recording in parallel)
- single memory card slot
- small battery, gives short recording time
Summary:
Great for hobby use and as a second pro camera for those special moments and creative shoots pictures. Have used it in multi camera takes where I have audio recording through my AX2000. I have bougth a shotgun mic to the NEX and it helps but it can't compare with AX2000 as you can't control input level. Will now buy the small zoom and fish eye to expand the use.
