Profoto BatPac Portable Power Source (Multi-Voltage)
The Profoto BatPac Portable Power Source (Multi-Voltage) is a location photographer's friend: a compact, lightweight high capacity battery for powering D1 and Acute2 flashes. At approximately 10 x 10 x 14" and under 25 lbs, this power pack will give you between 600 and 10,000 flashes with a D1 500Ws strobe, with recycling times from 0.3 to 1.6s, using a durable, rugged Pb battery (12V/17Ah). It can also run a 100W halogen lamp for up to 45 minutes. A multi-voltage unit, it can operate using either of the two available power outlets: 120V or 230V. It comes supplied with a multi-voltage charger and adapters and a transport bag with a handle, a harness, and a shoulder strap.

- One BatPac can drive up to 4 Profoto D1 (250Ws, 500Ws and 1000Ws) monolights or one Profoto Acute2 (1200Ws or 2400Ws) generator.
- High Capacity
- Integrated heavy duty battery delivers up to 300 flashes with D1 1000Ws, 600 flashes with D1 500Ws, 1200 flashes with D1 250Ws, etc.
- Integrated Protective Circuits
- The BatPac is protected against overcharge, short circuit, high temperature and low input voltage. A ground fault circuit interrupter protects the user and all connected devices.
- Handy & Transportable
- A robust nylon transport bag is an integral part of the BatPac. The carry handle, detachable shoulder strap and stowable harness make it easy to maneuver the BatPac even if it is in use.

I was expecting to have some difficulty with this battery because, in my experience, that's just the nature of dealing with batteries. But I've been very impressed so far.
First of all, it's lighter than the Pro 7B, which is great, but it's not so light that it can't do double-duty as a sandbag.
Secondly, it runs the old Compacts. That's why I chose it. I use the Compact 1200Rs and I've had no problems whatsoever when plugging them into the BatPac. Some folks (including a few photo reps) have said that this pack won't work with the Compacts, but MAC and my own experience say otherwise. No problems at all.
Third, when considering a battery-powered lighting system, this wins hands-down against buying a much more expensive pack like the B3, for which I'd also have to buy heads. Sure, I don't have the faster recycle times, but I tend to shoot fairly slowly, anyway. Plus, I love monolights as a general rule. And I can still throw down 2400 watts.
All in all, I'm extremely happy with this product. I haven't had it long but I've shot a fair amount with it and it just plain works. Something that can't be said, in my experience, for some of the other non-Profoto batteries out there.

I got this product after using Norman 400/200's for my portable flash solution. This thing just goes,I get a much better looking light with my profoto heads, more power per flash and it lasts so much longer and is so easy to use.

Verry convenient when you're outdoors and don't have a plug for your D1s. Just wish it was a little lighter but I guess it has to be this weight in order to function. Just love it. A little pricey but that's the price you pay for quality and convenience. Nice carry case all in one package. Wouldn't want to put on back for long periods of time.

Fantastic when paired with D1 monolights! Quiet, reliable and portable. Power supply seems to last quite a long time. I travel with it quite a bit and TSA loves to open up the case to look at it. Built well so I think it can handle curious inspection. I would like it if Tenba or Pelican made a custom sized case for the BatPac, so shipping it on airlines would be sturdier. Included backpack is fine for 'in town' jobs.
