When you are on a budget and have important color prints or documents that you want to archive and/or print, then consider the Canon CanoScan LiDE110 Color Image Scanner. This high-quality scanner is an incredibly easy way to convert those originals into high-resolution digital files and it is fast - it delivers a letter size color scan in approximately 16 seconds!
The front control panel of the CanoScan is equipped with four EZ Buttons, for automating the entire scanning process - the touch of a finger is all it takes to scan, copy and create e-mail attachments or PDFs. Canon's Auto Document Fix is a built-in retouching technology that includes dust and scratch removal and color enhancement which can further improve your final images. You will get text with clear sharp characters and images with true-to-original color and contrast.
The Advanced Z-Lid expansion top lifts approximately 1-inch vertically and lets you produce clear, complete scans even of thick originals such as notebooks. One cable provides both power and a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed data connection for low power consumption and the scanner is also a Generation Green product that is Energy Star & RoHS Compliant.

I really like this small scanner and it does a terrific job. The only drawback I have is the USB cable is not long enough for my need and you cannot add an extension to this particular cable.

Comments about Canon CanoScan LiDE110 Color Image Scanner:
I have used a CanoScan LiDE 25 for the last three years. Unfortunately it does not work with OS X Lion. The CanoScan LiDE 110 is an excellent replacement. Just like the 25 it fits in my backpack with my computer, and runs off the power from the USB attachment. This means I can take it to the law library and, using OCR, scan case law directly from the book into the brief. Needless to say I wish I had this when I was writing term papers in college.
It is also great for scanning in old family photos, and making PDF files of important documents. If anything, the 110 is even better than my beloved CanoScan LiDE 25.

I use it to scan receipts and other documents. It mostly works out of the box with Linux (Ubuntu 11.10). The buttons on the front don't work, though.

Comments about Canon CanoScan LiDE110 Color Image Scanner:
So far, the scanner is working great. I bought it as a replacement to my old USB scanner that was Windows XP Pro compatible. When I purcahsed my new PC (with Windows 7), I found that my old scanner would not work with the new PC. My new CanoScan LiDE110 scanner works fine with the new PC simply connected in the USB port.

This scanner is the best price-point scanner on the market! Simple install, excellent results. [...] I also have an Epson V33. It's a good scanner, but the Canon is easier to use, install, and purchase. Get the Canon! [...]

This is a terrific scanner for the price. Its compact size fits easily in my laptop case and I love that it's USB powered (no additional power cord means one less item to schlep around). It's a utilitarian scanner: no bells and whistles but does a great job scanning documents, etc.

Comments about Canon CanoScan LiDE110 Color Image Scanner:
In light of computers crashing, floods and other electronic breakdowns, I purchased this Canon scanner to make files of pictures, documents and other important data. I upload the key information to "cloud" servers.
The unit is light and just uses a USB plug for power and data transfer.
The only negative is that it is not portable for carrying around but it is light enough and easy to storek
