If you're the sort of person who wants to see his/her photos and videos as soon as you make them (and who isn't?), Nikon's Coolpix S1100pj Digital Camera (Violet) is going to be your new BFF. With the S1100pj's bright (14 lumens) built-in projector, you can instantly show images at distances up to 7', at sizes up to 47" across, on a screen, blank wall or other flat surface. The S1100pj can also be linked to your PC or Mac so stored pictures or presentations can be shown instantly through the projector (battery life using the projector is approximately 1 hour).
And when you're using the S1100pj, those pictures and video are likely to be spectacular--a 14.1 megapixel CCD sensor, 720p HD video, and a 5x (28-140mm equivalent) NIKKOR glass zoom lens combine to give you the capability to make world-class images, still or moving.
Images can be composed, reviewed, and edited on the camera's 3" TFT LCD, which uses anti-glare coatings and an adjustment slider for better image brightness to complement the ambient lighting conditions. For sharper images, the S1100pj has a 5-Way VR stabilization system that combines multiple technologies to smooth the bumps when shooting under low light conditions or in situations where you can't use flash.
For spectacular portraits, Nikon's Smart Portrait System offers Skin Softening filters (3 levels of adjustment), in-camera Red-Eye Reduction, Face-Priority AF, D-Lighting, a Smile Timer takes the picture only when your subject smiles, and Blink Proof, which automatically takes two quick shots and saves the one with eyes open.
Other outstanding features include Quick Retouch, which works with the D-Lighting function to optimize shadow and highlight detail, fisheye effect, selective color highlighting on an otherwise monochrome picture, and background softening, 17 scene modes, and macro shooting down to 1.2" from the front lens element.
If that's still not quite enough, you can also liven up your slideshows with the built-in animations, background music or slide transitions. Finally, the Paint function means you can add handwritten annotations to your images, even while you're projecting them on a wall.

The touch screen is frustrating to use, it does not respond to my touch. Two months and only a couple dozen photos after i got this camera, the lens got stuck open. I found out that this is a common problem, and even a piece of lint can jam the fragile lens cover, which causes the battery to drain. Had to send in and for $99 it was fixed. Also, the battery/camera card door is cheap. The tiny slider used to open the door got caught on a thread in my camera case and when i tugged it out, the door became twisted and had to be replaced. This is marketed to teenagers - how can it be so fragile? The photos i have taken using Auto mode are not sharp. The macro is pretty good and the video works well. The projector is dim - it is just a toy. This is my fourth digital pocket camera since 2004; first Nikon camera. Never had these problems with other point and shoot cameras. (In fact, have framed some of the photos from my other p&s cameras at 24"x30" and they look tack sharp.) Not able to talk with Nikon, only correspondence is through a form.

I use this product in just everyday general life activities, whether it be a party, the beach, a concert, or just plain hanging out with friends and family. It takes amazing pictures and I know the pictures will only get better as I learn how to use the vast amount of features this product has to offer. As great as all these features are, it is a little daunting and difficult without some prior experience with these kinds of cameras or features. But hey, having a product be too good is certainly a good problem to have. It is easy to use if you want to use just the basic modes but to truly take full advantage of all the amazing features it takes some practice and a few reads through the manual.....

It is great that after I shot, I can be able to share with my family and friends by looking through projection on the wall.
However, I don't know when the battery will run out because if does not display all the time.
