The dedicated Pearstone LHC-EW75II Lens Hood is specifically designed for use with Canon's EF 20mm f/2.8 lens. This hood features a standard bayonet mount and a non-glare matte finish on the interior surface.
Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens, by extending and shading the end of the lens. A dedicated lens hood is designed to perfectly match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for. In addition, because the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.
The "petal" shape of this lens hood maximizes the amount of hood coverage for the minimum amount of weight and hood area.

I wanted to save some money over the genuine Canon lens hood and decided to give the Pearstone a chance. It's not quite as "beefy" as the Canon, but considering the price, I'll take this one.
It DOES secure tightly to my wide angle lens and it does the job while saving me some $$$.

I'm a fanatic about the safety of my lenses. That's what lens hoods are for me, more than sun shades. I use my DSLR for cinematography, so if the sun is an issue, I put up a reflector. So I buy lens hoods for all my lenses.
I own only one Canon hood, and the rest are mid-level 3rd party hoods like this. But I love this hood. Fits perfectly, solid as a rock, and half the price of the Canon hood. I have several Pearstone products and I love every one of them.
