This DVD came free with my purchase of the Sony NX5U from B&H. I skimmed through the manual and then popped in the DVD while I sat on the couch and followed along with my NX5 in hand.
Overall it is a very informative video. It pretty much follows the major sections in the manual as one would expect, but the presenter also offered his on insight and experiences which were helpful.
I would not say that his is a necessity to learning the NX5, but it can be a help. In my case it was. This is my first Sony camcorder. I've always used Canon's. The mindset and operational philosophy are definately different between the two companies.
THe video was well put together and would be an asset to someone who is not familiar with prosumer camcorders.

This video is easy to understand and logically breaks down the menus and functions. Production value is pretty simple, no super flashy graphics or anything, just him on a generic backdrop, but I kind of appreciate that. It is simple and to the point. I bought it to learn the camera, not to be entertained. I would say it greatly reduced my learning curve. I spent a few hours with the DVD and the camera, and I was up and running.

Presentations.
It's a manual use camera, if you like Auto mode,
I wouldn't recommend it. Great color and sound, this is a WOW camera. I just bought my second one.
