I've had a Canon Rebel XS for over a year now and have found myself from time to time wishing I had a tripod, especially for those night shots that require longer exposures. I found this kit on BH website and having heard of Manfrotto's reputation, I gave it a try. Its a great value, especially considering the mail in rebate puts it at under $100. There are basically three products in one, the ballhead, the tripod legs, and the gearbag. The ballhead is alright, I think this is probably the weakest product out of all three. I say that not because its badly designed, but I can see myself needing something more heavy duty once I start getting better (and heavier) lenses. For now, as long as you tighten it enough, it keeps the camera steady. I think with frequent use, this part is going to wear out quickly. The tripod legs are surprisingly light and steady, despite being fairly thin towards the bottom. So far, they've served my needs perfectly but I haven't gone hiking with these or taken it outdoors much, so please keep that in mind. Half a dozen times or so I've used it indoors, its solid. I like that you can take out the center pole, and put it back in reverse (i.e. you can have the camera hanging "under" the tripod legs). In fact, this is the only way to fit this in the tripod compartment of the backpack (more on this later). There is a swivel button on the top of each leg that will allow the legs to swing out even more than standard. I was pleasantly surprised by the bag that came with this kit, in that it is surprisingly well-made! It can fit the tripod, but as I've mentioned above, if you need to zip it, you have to flip the centerpole of the tripod upside down so its not too long for the compartment. Otherwise, if you want your tripod ready to shoot, you can leave the centerpole right side up, and it will just stick out a little out of the compartment, however, there is a little loop strap that secures it, so it won't just fall out. Other than the tripod compartment, there are 5-6 additional pockets a removable camera/lens bag, and a laptop compartment that is large enough to fit a 17in laptop. You can hide the backpack straps, and use the bag as a vertical or horizontal briefcase as well; padded shoulder straps are included. I did a little digging and it turns out this bag was made by Kata, which makes fine camera/lens bags under their own brand. The only thing I wish they had included was perhaps a brochure that helps explain what the suggested uses for some of the pockets are. There are a few zippered mesh pockets that are cylindrical, yet they don't really fit lenses; I think they maybe for computer accessories like mice or external drives? I only have three lenses right now, so this bag fits everything I need, but for those of you with more gear, and always brings them all with you, there is limited use. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase, I think in 2-3 months, I will try to upgrade to a more substantial ballhead, but this really is almost a negligible complaint at this point. Of course the usual kudos to BH [...]

This sturdy Manfrotto tripod is topped by a ball-head that is inadequate in size and holding power for all but small point-and-shoot cameras. Mine has already been replaced by a much larger head from another manufacturer, and the combination is now suitable for my DSLR. Be advised that the tripod thread is 3/8-16, so any replacement must accept that thread or be suitably modified. The three-jointed legs allow the tripod to be relatively short, making it handy for carry and for table-top uses. The combination of the bags and the tripod represents an excellent value.

Comments about Manfrotto 7320YB M-Y Compact Tripod (Black) Kit w/ Ball Head/Backpack/Gear Bag:
The tripod and head are great, but on the light side. Don't plan on using this with a heavy camera. There was a lot of noticeable vibration shooting video with a DSLR. The bag seems to have been designed for a film camera. The pockets are really not useful for digital equipment, and the straps do not have sufficient padding or sternum connectors to make this bag useful for a long haul.

Comments about Manfrotto 7320YB M-Y Compact Tripod (Black) Kit w/ Ball Head/Backpack/Gear Bag:
Recently purchased and taken to Venice. Very easy to carry around due to the compact size and light weight.
I would suggest buying a quick release adapter if you do not have one since this does not come with it.
Very great Manfrotto quality. Everything feels very sturdy.
The backpack will be great as the weather gets better I can use it while cycling around the city.

Comments about Manfrotto 7320YB M-Y Compact Tripod (Black) Kit w/ Ball Head/Backpack/Gear Bag:
Manfrotto backpack well made alternitive to models costing $250. and up. Tripod comes with an all but useless little head that will only hold a pocket camera, but, if you yourder the Manfrotto 128LP MICRO FLUID HEAD (3126), you then have a basic video camcorder tripod that still kind of fits in the bag, and the entire setup is very usefull. I was enticed during the fifty dollar back rebate, but now that I have the setup with the mini fluid head, and the cam quick release plate, I would have been very happy to pay the full price. I am hold in it an Ag-hmc Panasonic video camera, nose down in the padded bag, It also holds in pieces a complete video cam shoulder stock setup, a mic, two folding light brackets, two led photo lights, two folding softboxes, tons of wires and electrical junk, etc. I was very impressed that I could fit a big camera, a video tripod, and a full set of basic gear in this smallish backpack. My camera weighs 2.2 pounds, but my complete setup weighs over 20 pounds, but fits comfortably on my back. I have the the complete shoulder mount, and a nice little video tripod all in one little kit.

Comments about Manfrotto 7320YB M-Y Compact Tripod (Black) Kit w/ Ball Head/Backpack/Gear Bag:
Normally I wouldn't of given this a second glance but with the manufacturer rebate it was too good to pass up. [...] As with the other reviewers on this item the ball head does seem a tad weak rated at about 4 lbs capacity. Over all construction of the tripod is solid as expected with a Manfrotto product, tripod itself is very light. I tried it out with my T1i, gripped with two battery, flash and prime lens on and it was able to support it. If you had a heavy zoom lens like 70-200mm 2.8 IS you're better off swapping out tripod heads. The Bag that came with it is very well thought out and can be converted to different setups depending on preference. Upon further inspection it seems that the bag is made by Kata, I think its the same company but don't quote me on it. Over all I really enjoy the product, if you have a point & shoot, micro 3/4 or small dslr set up you probably be fine, but for the rest you might have to invest in a more sturdy 3/8 tripod head.

Comments about Manfrotto 7320YB M-Y Compact Tripod (Black) Kit w/ Ball Head/Backpack/Gear Bag:
• This is a tripod I keep in the car and/or use when traveling.
• It's NOT a primary, but used when I don't want to lug the full-size Manfrotto I use for long exposures and time lapse shooting.
• It's NOT a heavy duty tripod, so if that's what you want look elsewhere!
• for its size, it's sturdy, stable and light
• made of all metal where it really counts
The backpack is, uh, meh. but usable. NO the tripod does not fit completely inside if the head is attached. There is a strap that secures it though so it wont fall out.
Overall, it's a good deal, almost wish they could unbundle the backpack from the tripod and just sell the tripod alone for $40. They would sell a million of them at that price.
The ball head works but won't hold up with a DSLR with a long lens. Especially for extended use.
The cool thing is I have a medium sized Timbuk2 messenger bag and it fits inside with my camera. Great for stealth so nobody knows you have a camera in your bag.

Comments about Manfrotto 7320YB M-Y Compact Tripod (Black) Kit w/ Ball Head/Backpack/Gear Bag:
This is a great product and needs three reviews within one because you are getting a great deal on three items: the tripod legs, the head and the bag. I needed all three. The legs are sturdy and well made, much more heavy than cheap-o tripods from the box stores. They have good adjustment. The head is very minimal and okay for the point and shoot or lightweight video cameras, but for other things and vertical shooting, you need more than a mere ball head. The bag is handy and fitting the tripod inside it is a plus! there are many pockets and zippers, even a place for a notebook or writing pad.

Comments about Manfrotto 7320YB M-Y Compact Tripod (Black) Kit w/ Ball Head/Backpack/Gear Bag:
This is a great starter/travel kit. It allows you to carry your medium size dslr and up to 2 lenses. There is also room for a 17in laptop. while other packs do the same or better, the winning feature is the fact that you can carry the compact tripod in the bag and have it zipped up without it protruding out. this is more convenient than having a tripod dangle in the back and have it snag on a tree or person like other bags. While the tripod is only rated for 4.4lbs, show me a back pack that you can completely stow a decent quality tripod. The tripod is similar to other MY tripods from Manfrotto. Built fairly solid, but dont expect it to perform like a $500 tripod. Like i mentioned before, this kit is great for some one starting out or for someone who is planning to travel. The kit was designed to be compact and easy to handle. There are plenty of little and medium size pockets for little knickknacks like filters, flash, or charger. There is even a vertical pocket for your power cords. I like how all the zippers were designed for each pocket, it doesnt zip all the way down the full length of each pocket, preventing items from rolling out. the inner padded pocket for the camera is actually another carrying case. You can detach it and use the back pack's strap and turn the carrying case into a small shoulder style carrying case. This is great when you want to leave your back pack in your hotel room while you take your camera with you in the smaller camera carrying case.
The major weakness is I think is the backpack should strap. The padding doesn't run the full length of the strap and the strap is detachable with plastic buckles. The rest of the bag seems to be constructed fairly well. There are individual straps for the tripod even when its zipped up. And there seems to be some weather sealing for the tripod pocket zipper. If you carry a lot of lenses with your for your travel, then this bag doesn't offer much room. The back pack is fairly small, but consider the fact that you can carry a laptop, your documents, tripod, a dslr, 2 lenses and a bunch of accessories but still be smaller than a day hiking north face backpack, I think this kit is great. Plus you can take this kit onto the plane as a carryon.
this is kit is not meant for the a serious professional replacement of a well padded pack with room 8 lenes or a carbon tripod.

Comments about Manfrotto 7320YB M-Y Compact Tripod (Black) Kit w/ Ball Head/Backpack/Gear Bag:
Purchased as a starter for a novice photographer (myself) and found the the ball head flimsy and not strong enough to hold my gear securely and the height too short even when fully extended. Would have preferred to give up the bag for better quality all around. Will need to pull together a better "package" on my own. I did like the overall feel of the tripod itself, the weight and sturdiness.

you get what you pay for, for this product. the tripod is solid but the head isnt able to hold the camera when you turn it vertically. when you put the tripod in the backpack it sticks out which doesn't look good. but again for the price, its hard to expect more from it.

Comments about Manfrotto 7320YB M-Y Compact Tripod (Black) Kit w/ Ball Head/Backpack/Gear Bag:
I was lookng for a small and light tripod for use with my panasonic Gf1 and GH2 cameras. Since these cameras are ultra light( in comparison to DSLRs)and do not suffer from mirror slap, my current tripods are a bit of overkill. Saw this kit and thought what the hey, I can get a tripod and another camera bag for a pretty good price. The tripod is perfect for my use and the bag seems handy enough. My only issue is that the zipper compartment for the tripod doesnt really fit the tripod. Kind of wierd.

I purchased this product after I read the reviews that it is a good starter tripod. I was misled because this product head is not near sturdy enough to hold my Nikon D90 with 18-200mm lens. Even though my camera with lens meets the weight requirements of this product, I don't trust that the head can hold my camera steady. This product is more for a compact camera. The camera bag seems very nice with big sturdy zippers. However, I am not convinced or satisfied and will be returning this product.

Bought the bag for school and general use. The tripod did not fit in the bag with the head attached. The head would not hold my Canon D7 steady. As far as the bag, it was an awkward and not user friendly. In fact, the design is just poor. I sent it back and purchased a better tripod and a better bag.
