          Comments about Rode Lavalier Microphone:

I bought this mic to use with my Sennheiser wireless system. It works perfectly and sounds clean and crisp. Not the best sounding mic I've ever heard, but well worth the price. I was worried about how strong the connection would be at the cable and connector, but it seems plenty strong.

This is a great product if you plan to use many different wireless systems or just one.

          Comments about Rode Lavalier Microphone:

I bought this Mic after deciding against purchasing a Sennheiser wireless. I've worked with a lot of wirelesses and this mic beats the sound quality of any affordable wireless lavs stock mic by leaps and bound. Much better range. Mixes really well with the NTG-3. My go to for situations that would normally need a wireless lav is to use the Rode Lav and strap a Zoom Handy recorder to the talent and sync the track to slate. Cost much less than any decent wireless and is much more reliable and works from ANY DISTANCE! Waterproof case and accessories are great but make sure to get the appropriate MicCon connector as this wasn't included. Small enough to hide behind a Bic Pen.

              Comments about Rode Lavalier Microphone:

I use this with a Zoom H1 and a 5DMKII. The results are very good and easlily on par with Tram mikes I've used for many years for broadcast television. I also plan to use it with a Sennheiser wireless radio system.

The Rode 3.5mm jack connecting into the Zoom H1 made a horrible crackling noise. I unplugged the jack slightly to its first stop and the connection then sounded consistantly clean. This is most likely an H1/Rode compatability problem not specific to either product. For more serious DSLR work I would suggest using a recorder with an XLR connector. Being able to use so many micon connectors is a big positive of this product. The H1 has enough power to run the Rode Lav.
The foam mike cover arrived half unglued from its mount. The design of the foam windjammer and rubber mount isn't very good because if you want to remove the foam cover it's very easy to pull the foam piece off its rubber mount that slips over the mike head. I pulled the foam off entirely and will oneday attempt to glue it back properly. I used the mike upside down and didn't get any breathing rumble and use the excellent furry wind jammer outdoors.
I bought the 3m cable as an accessory. Be aware that this is not an extension cable. It can only be used instead of the 1.5 m cable provided.
The micon connections appear NOT to be very robust. I was very careful not to cross-thread the connection. Best to leave the cable permanently screwed onto the mike head.
Overall, I like the sound of the mike and think the package is good value. If you're seeking a lav. mike with more mounting options besides a tie clip, then go for a Tram.
One star off for the poor foam wind cover.

              Comments about Rode Lavalier Microphone:

Im am new to the video world. I needed a Lavalier mic that could work wireless or with a handheld recorder. I use the Zoom H1 and the Rode Lav and it sounds amazing. I use the zooms full potential for wave format and the rode out does itself. I was able to pick up clear audio of my bride and groom and it sounded as if i was there. I have the micon 2 adaptor and the xlr adaptor and it is the most versatile piece out of my equipment. for the money, get it. word of advice though, roll your mic cable, don't wrap it. its pretty thin and i am afraid to break the cable.

                Comments about Rode Lavalier Microphone:

I was excited to pick up this Rode Lavalier after waiting for it to be released. The price was attractive [...]. Essentially, I'm not pleased with the tonal clarity or high-end frequency capture of this lav. I used it on a shoot this evening and all I can say is that the audio didn't have the crispness or clarity I've heard on the Sanken COS11D series. The packaging is nice, the included waterproof case is solid, and the build quality seems up to par. The basic pop filter arrived unglued from the plastic housing causing excessive noise as the mic element was floating around internally. I don't think this is a good design if you expect to use the pop filter. We ended up having to use the on-camera mic audio to get the final product out the door which was very unfortunate.
