The Interfit Strobies Folding Softbox (24 x 24") is an ideal way to get studio-quality light from your on-camera flash. This softbox slips over the head of your flash, softening the light output. An included ball bracket allows you to tilt the softbox for greater control. This softbox is lightweight, compact, and easy to set up and break down. A SB900 shoe is included in the kit to allow the use of the Nikon SB900 speedlite, which does not have a standard foot. Some flashes, such as the Vivitar 285, have heads that are too large to fit inside this softbox--the use of a Flex Mount and Strobies Softbox (STR104) is recommended instead. A kit bag is included for storage and transport.

For flashes with heads too large to fit this folding softbox, like the Vivitar 285, a Flex Mount and a Strobies Softbox (STR104) are a recommended substitute

Easy to set up and use, easy to adjust it to fit my flash head, got great results the first time I used it. It's a nice upgrade from the shoot-through umbrella I used before, without spending an arm and a leg.

Quick and easy setup, I have used it for some small object shots, but can easily see me carrying this on location.
I was impressed to receive a nice carrying case.
With the new Rebel T3 and a 430 flash, I can now do wireless shots without the extra expense for a pocket wizard.

I bought this set to aid with off camera lighting for portraits and weddings where a huge lighting setup may not be feasible. I really like this product. For the cost I seriously doubt you will find anything better. The only improvement I could see would be an additional set of wires to reinforce the softbox to the speed ring. I have not had the two separate but just the comfort of knowing a " safety " was in place would be nice. Other than that, great product. Stores easily and packs up small enough to fit in camera backpack. I will buy another one or two in the future.

It's not lightweight; and would be better if the white scrim could be folded along with the box, as well, instead of taking it out each time the box is set and take down.

Anyway, I find this product really good for it relation price/quality/features. It covers what I need; and the quality of it materials seems to be durable.

I think is a good choice if you are looking for sth small for speedlights.

Comments about Interfit Strobies Folding Softbox (24 x 24"):

Overall this is exactly what I wanted. It's a portable softbox of just the size I needed. The quality seems good and the bag to fold all of the parts is a nice touch. It doesa good job of diffusing lights from my flashes. I do a lot of work with smaller objects and subjects so the 24" was a good size. If I were shooting bigger subjects of full body shots, I would probably step up to a bigger softbox, but also probably would opt for a softbox on a monolight or studio strobe. With my Nikon Speedlights, these a re easily to take outside to fill in subjects (certainly not portable enough to walk around with as you need a stand to put them on, but good if you are outside with a place to set up without having to worry about wires and a lot of bulk). My one complaint is that they should come with some instruction, even if just a basic sheet to show you how to set it up properly and how to properly fold it back up to put in back in the small bag for storage (I thought I was going to break it because you have to bend/twist it some much so to make it a small enough size, but it did not break so I figured I did it right). Anyways, I figured it out, but a simple instruction sheet would have been an easy addition to this otherwise excellent product.

Comments about Interfit Strobies Folding Softbox (24 x 24"):

Softboxes are great for not lighting up a room like a white umbrella, and for producing specular highlights like a silver umbrella. A white umbrella bounces light everywhere & that affects the color of your images (as reflected light off of every sufrace in the room contaminates your image). A silver umbrella *may* be a bit more directional (depending on the umbrella) and may also produce more specular highlight, which may or may not be desirable. The Westcott Apollo - which I imagine is the only real competition to this unit - is a different beast altogether. I won't go into the details (just read the specs on both), but this is like 1/3 the price, which is what attracted me to it.One point of difference to the Westcott is that the flash itself mounts outside the softbox, leaving them exposed for you to easily reach, & possibly in line for optical triggers (or not). The Pros:- The light quality is great. Directional, soft with a nice gental falloff. I don't know specs but the angle of light that comes out of it is fairly narrow with a fairly sharp falloff. [...] It folds up nicely (once you figure out how, it's sort of like a reflector) to around... 6" round x 4" deep or so (guestimating, I haven't measured it) & the metal brackets drop easily into a ziploc bag (everything I own goes in ziploc bags). It also comes with a convenient carry case, though it's more compact if I don't bother with it. This makes it pretty portable for what it is. The Westcott is more umbrella like so which works better for you sort of depends on whether it's easier to carry an umbrella or a (very deep) reflector.- It's sturdy. Well constructed, I expect it to last for years & years. I also leave the diffusion fabric attached while I fold it up, I have no worries about tears rips or anything, it seems to work great. Quality metal & durable nylon and an actually very good flash shoe. Really, kudos to Interfit for not skimping on construction materials.- Unlike an umbrella, it's less likely to sail away in the wind, though in a strong wind it may rotate a bit on the stand if not tighened well. The Westcott is probably even better for this with the center of gravity right in by the light stand. Also the Westcott puts the flash inside the softbox, so it'll be a bit more protected from rain & falling damage.- You can position it in any direction, inclding up or down (unlike the Westcott, but see below).- It's pretty easy to set up. You just pop it open & pull it over the round "speedring" & then attach the flash to the bracket & put it through the hole. The biggest challenge is adjusting the flash on the bracket in the cramped quarters near the ballhead swivel mount, but that's not a big deal. I could see someone with clumsy fingers having a more difficult time with this. Folding it up is a bit of a hassle, but also not so bad.The Cons:- It's big. While I like that the light is big, I don't like that it sticks out so far from the light stand, limiting your positioning options in a small room. It'll alway be 3 feet away from the wall - 1 foot for the light stand, 2 feet for the softbox. It's also almost heavy enough to tilt over a flimsy light stand, so be careful you Manfrotto Nano users & make sure it's pointed towards one of the feet. In a very small room, I'd probably prefer a reflective umbrella - which you can put right up against a wall & already being a reflective source, it'll appear further away already.I probably wouldn't want to have an assistant holding this for too long, or to get them to get adventurous with angles (like holding it down & pointing up - it's probably too side heavy to point up without rotating around on the light stand without really tightening it a lot.- The first one I got, the bracket that the softbox "speedring" mounts to was too long & it won't tilt down on the ballhead. The second one I got, the length was good, so I don't know if they changed it or if theres just no QC over the length of this bracket. This is going to be a trade off, I'm sure, to work with flashes of different heights - shorter flashes will have more bracket sticking down the bottom. The workaround is to mount it on an umbrella bracket (I have a Manfrotto), which adds more weight to the top of the light stand, but give more positioning options.- The "speedring" is too small for the head of a 285HV. The 285HV head is monstrous & a lot of light modifiers won't work with it, but I end up having to just place the head of the 285HV up to the ring & wonder how much power I'm losing... probably not much but still. This also means I can't mount a stofen on the 285HV - which will eat up some power but will provide an even softer quality of light. Of course the 14mm wide adapter on the 285HV fits fine (since it's inside the 285HV head). The head of the SB600 fits inside no problem, with a stofen & all.So - I give it 90% good. It's compact in my camer bag, well constructed, gives a great quality of light, is easy to set up, has a decent range of motion. On the downside it's big when put together limiting your positioning options & a bit poorly balanced on the light stand, and the 285HV doesn't fit inside. For the price it's an amazing piece of kit & give us speedlight users a great, inexpensive, quality softbox that's easier to set up than just about anything with a real speedring.

This product performs as stated.Everything fits well and of solid construction. Folds back to original shape and size for packing relatively easy.Has loops inside for additional baffle( not included). I use the diffuser that came with my SB-900 for added diffusion and even use a flash attachable softbox once the head is inside the box for even more baffeling.
