The Model 5241 Cable Modem from Zoom Telephonics is a high-speed cable modem that is fully compliant with the DOCSIS 2.0 communications standard. The standard supports download speeds of up to 42Mbps and upload speeds up to 10.2Mbps. It is backwards compatible with DOCSIS 1.1 and 1.0 service, allowing it to work on almost all cable Internet services in the US.
Owning your own cable modem can allow you to reduce your monthly cable Internet bill. Many cable companies charge you a monthly rental fee for a modem. Owning your own hardware allows you to avoid this fee. The modem is compatible with Mac, Windows, Linux, and UNIX computers, as well as wired and wireless Internet routers. It features a 10/100Mbps Ethernet port and a USB 2.0 port for connection to a router or computer.
