The Model 5341 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem from Zoom Telephonics is a high-speed cable modem that is fully compliant with the DOCSIS 3.0 communications standard. The standard supports download speeds of up to 172Mbps and upload speeds up to 143Mbps. It is backwards compatible with DOCSIS 2.0, 1.1, and 1.0 service, allowing it to work on almost all cable Internet services in the US.
Owning your own cable modem can allow you to reduce your monthly cable Internet bill. Many cable companies charge you a monthly rental fee for a modem. Owning your own hardware allows you to avoid this fee. It features a Gigabit port to connect it to your home network. The modem supports both IPv4 and IPv6, and can be managed via SNMP.

Excellent Product - very easy install with Comcast - read on.
This modem accepts the latest protocol DOCSIS 3.0. 3.0 is not slated for comcast to release until next year, therefore - considering the expected life cycle of this modem ( how long it will not only work, but perform better than the Motorola Surfboard comcast provided me - it will have paid for itself ). Not to mention - it is faster. It's not the DOCSIS 3.0 ( yet ) as my friend said below, but because the zoom has a faster bps rate than my Motorola ( operating on comcast's current protocol ). When speaking with a candid comcast employee, their $ 7.00 modem lease is a big money maker for them and he has seen customers hold on to their original leased modem for as long as 6 years ! 7 * 12 * 6 = $ 504.00 ! Comcast is not in the business of replacing outdated leased equipment that still operates - the customer has to take the initiative. After 9 months, the zoom will have paid for itself.
Zoom 5341-02-00G Cable Modem Ethernet Port DOCSIS 3.0
Pros: Tested and approved by a cable non-profit group called CableLabs. Apparently these guys certify the modems will work with many different providers and that they meet universal standards. Excellent.
Great DOCSIS 3 modem. EASY connection with Comcast. Plug the modem in and call 1-800-COMCAST. After negotiating their menus and getting to a "real" person tell them you have a new modem you need to Provision. Give them the MAC address on the bottom of the modem. I was up and going (only one minor glitch on their end) in less than 15 minutes of talking and waiting for Comcast to download firmware and their config file to the modem.
The representative said I had "screaming fast" connection capability, must be the DOCSIS 3.
Cons: 1. Only one "activity" light that blinks, the upload and download and status lights are solid when connected and fully booted.
2. A cheap feel to the thin power cord, especially as it connects to the base plug/ transformer.
3. Slightly warm, but not too bad when operational.
Other Thoughts: Buying a new cable modem was joyful. Earlier I tried buying a used one from an auction site. It turned out that the modem's MAC address was never released by the previous owner on the prior cable service provider, what a nightmare! Buying new ensures that the MAC address and modem is good to go.

Comments about Zoom Telephonics Model 5341 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem:
I don't have the time or the savvy to write a technical recommendation of this product, but I will say that we haven't had any problems after 10 days.
Installation for Comcast was easy and went without hiccups, and it seems to be playing nice with our D-link wireless router. I haven't lost connection yet, and as long as I'm right next to the modem, the speed is exactly what Comcast advertised (the speed when far away is a reflection of the router and my particular living situation, not the modem).
I looked at this modem after reading many negative reviews about Motorola's modem, and am happy so far that I went with a lesser-known brand.

Comments about Zoom Telephonics Model 5341 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem:
Right after my Internet company, Knology updated their network to DOCSIS 3.0, my Internet service started to fail daily. After a couple of month of troubleshooting with my old modem (Linksys BEFCMU10 V4, DOCSIS 2.0) finally I have ordered this Zoom 5341 DOCSIS 3.0 modem. I am glad I have made this purchase. My connection is more stable than ever, and with this modem now I have the opportunity to double my speed for some extra, but so far the current 12M download 2M upload speed is enough for my needs.
The modem's web based status screen is informative.
The setup was easy.
I like that the modem can stand vertical so it uses less space on the shelf.
I like that the status LED-s have labels

Comments about Zoom Telephonics Model 5341 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem:
Got this to replace the rented Comcast cable modem. Had some problems with getting xfinity to register the modem. I believe the issue was that after it was registered my router still had the old dns numbers, so it kept forwarding to the registration page. Once the router got the updated dns, then everything was fine. Actually setting up the modem was as simple as plugging in wires. Based on [@], I'm getting 17mbps, which is 7mbps higher than what I pay for. It's also faster than what I was getting with the rented motorola sb5101u

Comments about Zoom Telephonics Model 5341 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem:
I bought this modem to replace one rented from Comcast (they had just raised the monthly rental fee to $7 from $5 which was already too high). The modem is at the highest Docsis level (3.0) so I don't expect that I will have to worry about it being incompatible with whatever Comcast does in the future. It is compact and set up was easy. I am pleased with this product.

Comments about Zoom Telephonics Model 5341 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem:
Fairly easy to set up. I had to call the cable company to give them the MAC address because the automated system for my ISP - Charter failed. It takes longer to start up than the old Motorola did but we think we are getting faster speeds and response time with it and no more 7 bucks per month to rent one from Charter. My advice is to be patient for it to start up, it takes longer than I was accustomed to and the cable company had me plugging and unplugging for 30 minutes without waiting for it to get all lit up. Wait for all the lights to go solid except the top one which will blink then you are good to go. It will pay for itself in less than a year. Bought 2 of these and set the other one up for a relative. Both working great, no resets so far and have been in use for a couple of weeks.

Comments about Zoom Telephonics Model 5341 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem:
I had many zoom products in the past and never had any problems so I don't expect anything different with this one. Docsis 3.0 is the best to have since cable companies offer the best speed with the 3.0. By buying your own modem you save the rental fees that the cable companies charge. Works well with all windows including Win7 64 bit. Definitely recommend this to anyone that's looking for a good quality product fast speeds all for a great price.
You will need to call your cable company to get the modem registered with the mac address. Just a reminder for any newbies that If you plan on having a wireless home network you will need a wireless router since this doesn't have it built in.

Product is used in the home with a 3.0 router. This is the 3rd Zoom modem I've used and highly recommend this product over others.
My only problem has been with the cable provider. They have problems setting their servers to my modem. This has been a problem with them every since I went to them from dial-up.

Comments about Zoom Telephonics Model 5341 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem:
I bought this modem to replace a outdated Docsis 1.1 model because I've used Zoom modems in the past and wanted a future ready model.
The unit arrived very fast and I was up and running with some improved speeds after a quick call to activate it.
The diagnostic menus have a lot of info including firmware revision and were I'm at I bond 4 downstream and 3 upstream and it reports on all the channel's signal levels on one page so it make checking that you are on the proper tier easy.
Overall it's working great and it is a bit smaller and puts out less heat than the modem it replaced while providing all the speed I pay for.

I've owned this modem now for 3 weeks and it has performed flawlessly. I'm glad I went ahead and spent a little more for a DOCSIS 3.0 modem. I have Charter Cable and setup was as simple as a 2 minute call to Charter and the modem was working. Haven't had a single issue with it thus far.

Finally I said NO TO COMCAST & their increase for renting their outdated surfboard. [$] a month that is too much! This was a snap to deal with installing & interfacing with my home LAN. It was a piece of cake & especially with Comcast, it was easily recognized by their network automatically getting the MAC address & in record time I had connectivity and was totally impressed with this new addition. My speed has shown an increase with the Zoom Cable Modem.
