The Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM Fisheye Ultra-Wide Zoom Lens delivers 180° diagonal angle of view images for all EOS SLR cameras with imaging formats ranging from full-frame to APS-C. When the lens is used with full-frame cameras you can choose between a circular fisheye image or full-frame image by using the zoom.
When used with EOS bodies featuring APS-C or APS-H sensors, the lens produces a more traditional, full frame fisheye view. A zoom-lock mechanism on the lens body allows the range to be limited to the focal length that ensures the best possible full-frame view without unsightly vignetting around the edge. 'C' and 'H' markings can be found next to the zoom operation ring, indicating the wide-angle zoom position where vignette-free shooting is possible with either sensor. For filmmakers and photographers who want the look and feel only possible with extreme wide angle and fisheye photography, the Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM is a world-class choice.
With its Ultra-Sonic Motor (USM), and Floating Focus System the lens offers fast auto focus even down to a close 6.2" (0.16 m). The lens features UD glass for suppression of chromatic aberration, a Subwavelength coating for reduced ghosting, a Fluorine coating that keeps soiling, smears and fingerprints to a minimum, has full-time manual focus for instant switching from AF to Manual operation, and is built to the standards of the amazing Canon L-series of lenses. The rear gel holder holds up to 3 pre-cut filters. This means the finest optics, the best construction and the best performance available, all in a lens designed to stimulate creativity and deliver stunning images every time.

Comments about Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM Fisheye Ultra-Wide Zoom Lens:
I mostly shoot landscape photography and bought this lens to be used with my new Canon 5D since the Canon 10-22mm was useless in this camera. Excellent lens that exceeds all my expectations and fun to use it too. Amazing colors and sharpness. For creative landscape photography all you have to do is play with the horizon line to avoid distortion so you can take real wide angle pictures without going totally fisheye, unless you really want to go totally creative and play with the fisheye at 8mm. Which is amazing too!!! When shooting close to subjects, careful with your feet or they will show in the picture.

Comments about Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM Fisheye Ultra-Wide Zoom Lens:
I own a Canon 7d and I am always looking for a wide lens with my crop sensor. This lens fills this need well for me in the 10mm to 15mm range and has the extra bonus of going to a vignette fisheye shot at 8mm. I am disappointed that it doesn't go to a complete fisheye, but knew it wouldn't with my crop sensor. I got this lens because I wanted a really wide lens and like the added distortion a fisheye will give to an image. This is my preference and not for every user. I use this lens because I find myself in a lot of tight locations, that I still want to convey the entire scene, and still communicate to the viewer it is a small space. This lens does this for me and I find I use it a lot for creative shots.

I went from the std Canon 15mm to the Tokina 10-17mm to this amazing Canon 8-15mm. The difference is light and day. I debated for months about buying after reading some poor reviews but don't regret it at all. Sharpness, saturation all excellent.

Comments about Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM Fisheye Ultra-Wide Zoom Lens:
This may be the least practical lens I have ever purchased, but it may also be the most fun. Optically it's great, everything you could possibly want in a fisheye lens. My only concern is the large front element and protecting it while shooting. The hood works great at 15mm (or from 10-15mm on a 7D) but must be removed when shooting at 8mm for the full 180 degree circular on a full frame camera. Also, the hood must be on for the lens cap to be used, and it is easy for the lens cap to come lose. But other than those minor issues, the lens is amazing.

Comments about Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM Fisheye Ultra-Wide Zoom Lens:
Gives, as advertised, wide sloping images. Fits nicely into Canon backpack along with parent camera EOS Mark II 5D with its 24-105 lens, and flash. Haven't had any problem keeping myself out of the pictures and don't object to the case or lens cover, concerns voiced by others in previous reviews. Sky-clouds have not been an issue, which was a concern given that there is no possibility
of a polarizing lens
Just beginning with this lens, but so far nothing negative to say.......TL....East Greenwich RI

Comments about Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM Fisheye Ultra-Wide Zoom Lens:
The 180° angle of view lets me come really close to the subject, much closer to the range of the strobes. Brilliant images ! I was always worried about taking such expensive lenses under the water but it is worth the risk !

Comments about Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM Fisheye Ultra-Wide Zoom Lens:
I really don't understand all the fuss about the lenshood and the cap. Just try to come up with a better design for a lens that's on the wide end covers 180 degrees. I have used a number of fisheyes (Sigma, Pentax, Zeiss/Hasselblad, Zodiak/Arsat) -- this one definitely stands out in the crowd.

Comments about Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM Fisheye Ultra-Wide Zoom Lens:
I bought this along with my Canon 5D MKII to take full advantage of the full frame sensor. This glass is intesting in a number of ways. You can maintain the f-stop throughout the range, going from ultra-wide angle at 15mm down to full fisheye at 8mm. In addition, I can use the lens on both my 50D and the 5D. With the 50D, there's a locking mechanism on the color to adjust for the APS-C sensor. My only criticism is that the cap and hood could fita little better. Somewhat pricey, but well worth the money given the sharpness and color.

Comments about Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM Fisheye Ultra-Wide Zoom Lens:
I have not yet used the lens extensivly, but for the about 150 images I have made, I can only say that it has exeeded my expectations.
It is great for close-ups as well as nature photography, and it is very sharp with very good colors.
The zoom possibility is verg nice.
The only less good thing is the lens-cap.
It falls off easily and in general is of a bad design.

Comments about Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM Fisheye Ultra-Wide Zoom Lens:
Great lens period. I have been waiting to purchase a fisheye since my Pentax Spotmatic/darkroom days back in highschool and when Canon anounced this lens I knew it would be on order as soon as it was available. It performs exactly as expected and works exceptionally well with my 7D body. The limit switch works great and the lens is tight and fluid when focusing and zooming. Fast focusing and tack sharp at all f/stops. The lens cap and hood could use a little improvement but not bad enought to make the lens any less stellar.

Comments about Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM Fisheye Ultra-Wide Zoom Lens:
I am a pictorial and wildlife photograoher but lately have been acquiring shorter lenses to cover my architectural assignments. This lens is small, light, sturdy build, and L glass vintage. It has given me the chance to shoot some creative images on both my 1Dmk 4 and 5D mk2. The results are most satisfying with superb saturation and some pretty interesting views and dof is perferct. Biggest con are angle of view, so watch out for your feet, straps and unwanted object in and around you. The lens cap and petal lens hood are flimsy and I hope canon will redesign it.
