Maybe you've decided to join the social media revolution - or perhaps you're already knee deep in Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter and you're scoping out gift ideas - whatever the case may be, you've found yourself here, reading about Sony's MHS-TS20 8GB Bloggie Touch Camera. The 8GB Bloggie is the highest capacity pocket cam offering from the famed electronics company for 2010. And much like its 4GB sibling, the 8GB offers up a number of features.
The 8GB Bloggie Touch records up to 4 hours of high def video to its internal flash memory. But, in addition to recording HD video, the Bloggie as does double duty as a 12.8MP digital still camera. No matter which format you go with though, still or video, the camera utilizes a generous 3" touch screen, which rotates automatically, for composition and review of your files.
Diverging somewhat from an ultra-simple operation concept, the Bloggie Touch employees a couple features normally found on more feature-heavy consumer camcorders: SteadyShot image stabilization and face detection. Other useful features include 4x digital zoom and macro shooting, the ability to tag videos and stills for uploading to social networking sites, and a built-in rechargeable battery that can be powered back up via USB.
When you're done shooting, and ready to share what you've shot, the Bloggie Touch just needs to be connected to your compatible PC via the flip-out USB arm. The pre-loaded software automatically starts up once the camera is connected, allowing you to edit and share your videos and photos with ease. When you feel like sharing what you've shot in the big screen, just connect the Bloggie to your HDTV via the HDMI.

Super easy to use. Slim, easy to hold, with a large screen. Great for quick grab videos and photos. The software uploads directly from the Bloggie to any computer to allow upload. Video and photos are a high quality for a lens so tiny. A bonus is that you can upload to specific folders you create on personal space on Sony's website and send e-mail to people you want to view each folder. There is no need to create a page of your own somewhere else or post to more public sites.

Was thinking the CMOS sensor and 1080p features of this camera would lend itself to some lower light vids with good quality. This is not the case and I find myself wanting to return it, or at least buy a Flip HD instead. I think the face recognition feature (which is good for the still) is a bit of a drawback for the video piece, as too much focusing is going on with the camera to get true HD vids out of it.
Sound quality is actually better than I had hoped, but it's all brought down by the video quality

LOVE this camera.
Use it to do buyer tours of homes, final walk thru, contractor repairs, community videos, SOOOOOO EASY to post my videos to You Tube. Just plug it into my computer, enter my You Tube Password, and wait for the upload.
Had (2) Kodac flip cameras I could NOT get to work, The ZI-8 and Playtouch. This one smokes the Kodak in ease of use.

I use this for Corporate video sessions
The auto color is good, the exposure is very good and the resolution is better than most of the other mini camcorders
So far, battery life is very good (compared to FLIP)

This thing is awesome. I got this little thing for a recent trip home for video of my family and hometown and it was great. Super easy to throw in a person or even back pocket. Turns on fairly quickly so you don't miss anything and the battery last pretty long depending on which mode you are in.
The video quality so far is great and the sound is perfect. It is super easy to upload video onto computer and it charges quickly;y as well. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, the price is great and its a nice product.

I bought this camera for my Costa Rica trip and assumed the obvious based on a lot of past video camera experience. #1 - the entire trip I held the camera upright. All my video from that trip plays back in the middle third of my TV. Not full screen. I didn't realize you should hold the camera horizontally. #2 - there's no view finder. I'm in Costa Rica with the sun behind me. I couldn't see the video screen with the best of vision. So, my video's of Howler monkeys had no monkeys in them. I couldn't see them on the screen. So all I had was the sound of monkeys. I gave this camera to my kids. Never again will I buy a video camera without a view finder.

This camera has great video and stills for it's size. The built in memory is enough to shoot about a days worth of footage and photos. The quick USB connection is quick for off loading on the go. I wish the sensitivity of the touch screen could be controlled. Takes a little bit of getting use to with the touch screen, but does what it's suppose to. For the price of the camera I think this does an excellent job. Easy to use. An average person could figure this camera out in a short amount of time.

This is a very well made and sturdy product. I like the ease of use and the built in USB. The size makes it very convenient to carry anywhere and the long battery life combined with the long recording time is great! It also takes amazing still pictures!
The only downside to it that I see is the lack of optical zoom. It has a digital zoom, but as you know the digital gets fuzzy at full zoom. That's my ONLY complaint. Not a big one.
Overall I would definitely recommend this video recorder to everyone!

I was going on vacation and just wanted to have a simple video camera to take spur of the moment video and pictures. I got this video camera and have not been disappointed one bit. Stabilizer and video are very good. took video while driving in the car and video came out very still considering I was driving and recording at the same time. Still pictures are not super, but very good considering what you pay. [...] had it for $10 less and included a HDMI cable, but B&H are OK guys so Oh well. good buying experience.

I was looking for a higher definition video camera that was easier to use and travel with than my old digital video camera. With this product, its easy to carry, easy to use, and has exceeded my expectations on the quality of both the video and the still photos.

Amazing movies for a lens and a camera this small.
Jpeg's are very good and even good in low light. The detail with 12.8 megapixels is relly clear.
You just have to remember to keep you hand out of the way of the lens.
If you download (K-Lite) basic you can watch the movies in Windows Media player.
Great camera for the price. No bigger than a cell phone. With this thing there is (No reasonable expectation of privacy) :)

I had a problem with the audio distorting every few seconds after a firmware update. Sent it to Precision Camera Repair via Sony customer relations, twice to no avail. With the annoying audio distortion this camera is useless. Also, the automatic shutter setting is too open so much of the image is overexposed. The auto focus is unresponsive. Do not buy this model. I am a big Sony fan in general though, this is just one of their rare mistakes.

I use this camera almost daily for my baby son. It is very simple to use with it's touchscreen menu. The images are very sharp, crisp, and very clear during daylight hours with its 1080p HD images. You can plug it into your flat screen using the HDMI cable with a mini-HDMI adapter that attaches to the Bloggie. As for night shots, it's pretty decent. It's not as sharp but it's clear enough. What's cool is that it automatically targets faces with squares and focuses on them. While you're filming, you can shoot a still images simultaneously. The camera is lightweight and very small enough to put in a diaper bag. As for the battery, I have been using it for almost 2 weeks and I still do not have to charge it. It works great with Apple Macbook Pros too even though the instructions says the program is not compatible with Apple. I really LOVE this camera especially when it cost only [$] and it beats the FLIP cameras that cost more and lacks alot of features that the Bloggie has.

Comments about Sony MHS-TS20 8GB Bloggie Touch Camera (Black):
My traditional camera up and died, and my camcorder is palm sized, but still too big for a pocket and hard to take to the store to print out stills. So instead of buying another traditional camera I wanted something that did it all but was pocket sized. This is exactly what I was looking for! It works great, very intuitive. I love the large LCD screen, the touch screen is great. It takes great pic's. It takes great video. Use the 60fps, the 30fps is too jittery. So when you are considering hard drive space, assume 60fps and assume 12mp for pics as well. The USB connection and built in hard drive are great as well. It is easy to hold and keep steady. And last, the only thing I will recommend you will have to do is get a case for it and some type of skin to protect it and make it easier to grip. It can be a little slippery and a little small sometimes and the skin would help with that. I wish Sony would have included some cheap case in the box. You can get a cheap one at the dollar store so how much could it add to the price? Another [$] on top of [$]? Please Sony, include a cheap case and add the [$] to the price. But in the end I would recommend this camera to everyone.
