For pro usage I would not suggest this product. But for everyday usage with non professional users. It is a good product. I put it to the challange with the work I do. It is a bit sluggish but I understand that I am maxing out. So therefore I deal with it.

I installed this network drive so I could move my music to a common location used by all the computers in the house as well as our new Sonos system. Easy to install, to move our music from various computers and to manage. Took a bit to figure out the management utilities as they reside on the network as opposed to my computer, but you just open the interface for the utility and away you go. So far, so good.

Comments about Western Digital My Book Live Home Network Drive (1TB):
This drive is working perfectly for a multi-mac and PC household. File shares between platforms is flawless. Each mac is using the same drive for individual Time Machine backups, and the setup couldn't have been easier. The drive was instantly available in the Finder without installing any software. I did install the bundled WD Quick View on one computer but will uninstall it shortly as it doesn't really add anything to the usability. Once you've bookmarked [@] in your web browser, you can access all of the same settings directly on the built in server without the need for the bundled software installed. I haven't had any problems with the drive going into standby, and it seems to wake within a few seconds when needed. I'm looking forward to setting up the remote web access and PS3 media server, but so far everything has been simple and as advertised. One thing that I really like about this drive compared to other external drives that I own is that the LED on the front is small and unobtrusive. So many of my devices have crazy bright blue indicator lights, its nice to have a drive that gets the job done without blinding you all the time. Just a small detail that I appreciated.

Comments about Western Digital My Book Live Home Network Drive (1TB):
Installed like a dream, silent, backup software works as advertised.
The only issue is that it doesn't seem to ever go into standby mode even though it is set to do so after 15 minutes of inactivity. Possibly the "continuous" backup running on my wife's machine is keeping it awake. But overnight?
