This was the second 2TB Green Caviar drive I've purchased to upgrade a dual 1.8Ghz Power PC G5. Used jumpers to slow them to system speed. This 2nd drive is partitioned for time machine and an older OS for FCP6.

At 2 terabytes capacity the 2TB Caviar Green SATA Internal Hard Drive by Western Digital is certainly not small, but it is physically no larger than the 500MB drives that came in my computers originally.
The Caviar Green is quiet compared to other drives in the 500mb to 2TB range that I have owned. It may not have the highest speed ratings when compared to the most expensive gaming drives, but I have notice no difference in my usage from "faster" drives.
I use this drive in my main desktop for extra storage of raw photos. I regularly process photos for clients, convert video, and run my business from this machine. I do have an WHS machine that provides backup and greater storage, but with this new drive in my main machine I will likely not beet to tap those resources again for some time.
I plan on adding more of these drives to my servers when I need more room. I'm confident they will serve me very well there!

I've rarely had trouble with any Western Digital HDD, and thus far no trouble with this drive. It's the largest capacity HDD that my Win XP machine can handle, and even though it's in the power-efficient Green line, it's still more than fast enough to stream high-bitrate Blu-ray rips. I haven't actually measured the read/write speeds, and don't use it as a system drive, but it's great for storing and streaming DVD and Blu-ray rips, as it would be for other even less-demanding files like music and low-bitrate videos. I use this in a hot-swap bay, and it runs far cooler than my 2TB Caviar Black.

I bought these drives based on reviews from friends who have used them, and also based on the price.
Keep in mind that with these larger drives, the drive speed may start becoming an issue. I am running a new i7 with 16GB RAM, it is overall a blazing fast computer and I use an SSD for the OS/Boot with these hard drives (in RAID1) attached for storage.
The seek time and startup time (especially after sleep) are noticeably longer than smaller drives (i.e. < 1TB). Something worth being aware of.
Overall, however, these drives are great. They are quiet, use little power, and most importantly run very cool temperatures. I would certainly buy them again, and in fact plan to if/when the post-flood HDD pricing recedes :-/

Drives are to be used as share drives.
Drives had to be attached directly to desktop's network connector and initialized.
After initiilization, the drives were then connected to system's wireless router. From this point, the drives are recognized by wireless users on home network.

Needed a larger hard drive for data storage of songs, photos, and programs. Went from a 70GB from 2005 to a 2TB, and I'm giddy with all the space I have to fill. Already had a 1TB WD MyBook for backup. Now I can put it to work!
And I almost returned this product because my computer wouldn't even recognize the drive after I installed it. Called WD Tech Support, and they said the drive was bad and to send it back. None of the blogs or online articles I read in research hinted at changing the driver settings in the BIOS when you first turn on your computer (you press F2 I think to enter Setup?) Once I enabled the SATA ports/drives, it recognized the drive immediately. The Acronis software that you can download online from WD is very helpful, and makes for easy setup. Thanks B&H for great customer service for the RMA # I didn't have to use (thankfully)!
