The Western Digital 300GB WD 3.5" VelociRaptor SATA Hard Drive is truly an animal. Designed for high-performance desktop chassis, the VelociRaptor boasts a drive speed of 10,000 RPM and transfer speeds up to 3 Gb/s. It runs cool and affords a monstrous capacity of 300GB. The VelociRaptor features NoTouch ramp load technology and Rotary Acceleration Feed Forward, which optimizes performance. NoTouch ramp load technology limits wear and tear to the drive. The DATA drive is housed in an IcePack mounting frame with built-in heat sink that dissipates heat and keeps the drive cool. The VelociRaptor is ideal for performance systems, workstations and low-end servers.

- Keeping the drive cool enhances reliability. WD continues to develop better ways to keep drives cool while they are operating which helps protect the drive and the data stored on it
