CalDigit 2TB AV Drive External Hard Drive

The 2TB AV Drive External Hard Drive from CalDigit is a high-performance external hard drive, compatible with Mac and Windows computer systems. It features USB 3.0 and FireWire-800 connectivity for maximum performance, and is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and FireWire-400 hosts -- albeit at slower speeds.

The drive is capable of sustained transfer rates of up to 145MB/sec when connected via USB 3.0. If you opt for a FireWire-800 connection, speeds will be about 85MB/sec. CalDigit offers optional adapter cards -- in PCI Express and ExpressCard/34 form factors -- that allow you to add USB 3.0 support to your PC or Mac. The drive is housed in an aluminum enclosure with a temperature-controlled smart fan, ensuring cool and quiet operation.

Optimized FireWire-800
USB 3.0 speeds are up to 5Gbps, much faster than most of today's popular interfaces. If you don't have USB 3.0 yet, FireWire-800 will allow you to connect to your current computer. Then when you get the CalDigit SuperSpeed PCI Express Card or a USB 3.0 equipped computer, you will be ready to start using the CalDigit AV Drive at the fastest possible speeds. The CalDigit AV Drive features the latest in FireWire technology from CalDigit. Unlike other FireWire-800 drives on the market, which have typical speeds of 58MB/sec though 74MB/sec, the CalDigit AV Drive can achieve speeds of 85MB/sec. This 30% increase in speed allows for faster file transfers and more real time when video editing.
CalDigit SuperSpeed PCI Express Card
CalDigit offers an optional SuperSpeed PCI Express Card for systems without a built-in USB 3.0 support. CalDigit also offers an optional SuperSpeed ExpressCard/34 for laptops with ExpressCard support.
